This delicious sweet Apple Dessert Pizza features fresh, caramelized apples, and a homemade pizza dough ready in under 30 minutes tops! It is the perfect dessert to enjoy with the family.

1-3/4 to 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 envelope Fleischmann's® RapidRise® Yeast
1-1/2 tsps sugar
3/4 tsps salt
2/3 cup very warm water ((120° to 130°F))
3 tbsps canola oil
1/3 cup corn meal (for dusting pizza stone)
2 apples (Macintosh or Granny Smith, peeled, cored, diced )
1 tbsp unsalted butter (softened, keep one tablespoon separate)
3 tbsps brown sugar (keep portions separate )
1/2 tsp cinnamon
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
4 tbsps butter (softened)
1/2 cup vanilla frosting

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees f.
  • Add chopped apples, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar and butter to a skillet, and cook until apples are tender. It will take about 5 minutes over medium heat. Apples will caramelize in a slightly thick, brown sauce. Once cooked, remove from heat and set aside.
  • Combine one cup of all-purpose flour, Fleischmann's® RapidRise® Yeast, sugar, and salt in a bowl. Whisk until combined, and then add to a stand mixer.
  • Add very warm water, and oil to dry mixture. Turn mixer on medium speed, and using dough hook, start to work the mixture.
  • Slowly add in remaining flour. For this recipe, I did use the full 2 1/4 cups of flour for the perfect consistency.
  • Dough will start to form a ball on the hook and will be slightly sticky.
  • Knead on a floured surface. If dough is too sticky sprinkle additional flour on it and work into the dough.
  • Allow Fleischmann's® RapidRise® Yeast dough to rest for 10 minutes.
  • Once it has rested, sprinkle half the cornmeal on your pizza stone and put it in the oven.
  • Sprinkle the remaining cornmeal on the back of a baking sheet.
  • Stretch and form dough ball into a 12-14" pizza crust; set aside.

½ cup butter, softened
¼ cup confectioners' sugar
1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
2 (21 ounce) cans apple pie filling
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
¾ cup all-purpose flour
½ cup packed brown sugar
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Cream together butter or margarine and confectioners' sugar. Add 1 cup flour and mix gently just until dough comes together. Pat evenly into a 12 inch pizza pan.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes. Remove and spread with apple pie filling.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together cheese, 3/4 cup flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Sprinkle over apple filling and return pizza to oven for 25 to 30 minutes longer.

Dough for single-crust pie
2/3 cup sugar
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
4 medium baking apples, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch slices
TOPPING:
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup rolled oats
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/4 to 1/2 cup caramel ice cream topping or caramel apple dip
Vanilla ice cream, optional

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to fit a 12-in. pizza pan; fold under or flute edge. Combine sugar, flour and cinnamon in a bowl. Add apples and toss. Arrange apples in a single layer in a circular pattern to completely cover crust. Combine the first 5 topping ingredients; sprinkle over apples. , Bake until apples are tender, 35-40 minutes. Remove from the oven and immediately drizzle with caramel topping or dip. Serve warm with ice cream if desired.

streusel topping:
2/3 cup sugar
2/3 cup flour
1/2 cup butter, room temperature
2 apples, peeled and finely chopped
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/3 cup sugar
one 12 inch prebaked pizza crust, such as boboli, or mama mary's gourmet pizza crust
2 tbsp. butter, softened
icing:
2 tbsp. butter, melted
2 tbsp. milk
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 425.
  • 2. For streusel topping, put sugar and flour in shallow bowl. Add butter. With pastry blender or 2 knives, cut in the butter til well mixed and crumbly. Refrigerate til ready to use.
  • 3. In microwave proof bowl, mix apples, cinnamon and 1/3 cup sugar. Mix well and microwave on full power for 2 minutes. Set aside.
  • 4. Brush pizza crust with softened butter.
  • 5. Sprinkle crust with 1/2 of the streusel topping. Top with the apple mixture. Top with the remaining streusel topping
  • 6. Put the pizza directly on the oven rack and bake for 8 to 10 minutes, til topping is golden brown. While pizza is baking, mix the icing ingredients in a small bowl. Mix well.
  • 7. Drizzle icing over warm pizza. Cut pizza into wedges to serve. Serves 8

(9 inch) homemade pie crust ((or store bought))
2/3 cup white sugar
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
4 cups peeled and diced apples ((like Gala, Fiji, Braeburn, Empire diced into 1/4 inch pieces - around 4 apples))
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup salted butter (softened (see Note))
1/2 cup caramel topping

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Roll pie crust to fit a 12 inch pizza pan; fold under edges to give the pizza a bit of a raised crust. Combine sugar, flour and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Add peeled, diced apples and toss. Arrange the apples in a single layer over the pie crust to completely cover it.
  • For the topping: Combine the flour, brown sugar, oats, cinnamon, and butter in a bowl. Mix well. I like to use my clean hands to get in there and mush it together until it's the texture of wet sand. Sprinkle topping evenly over the apples.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until apples are tender. Remove from oven and immediately drizzle with caramel topping. Cut into pizza slices and serve warm with ice cream. Makes 12 servings.
