SLOW COOKER HONEY APPLE PORK LOIN



Slow Cooker Honey Apple Pork Loin image

Pork loin stuffed with granny smith apples and drizzled with cinnamon. Great over rice pilaf.

4 lb. pork loin (I use a center cut)
2 granny smith apples (sliced and divided)
1 white onion (sliced)
1/2 cup butter (sliced)
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 cup honey
1 tsp. dried thyme or a few sprigs of fresh

Steps:

  • Cut slits on the top of the pork loin, I cut about an inch down. Plug in apple slices into the slits. Set aside.
  • Add the onions and remaining apple slices down in the slow cooker. Lay over the slices of butter.
  • Add the pork loin.
  • Sprinkle the pork with the salt, pepper and cinnamon. Add the thyme.
  • Drizzle over the honey.
  • Cover and cook on LOW for 6 hours without opening the lid during the cooking time.
  • When the cooking time is done. Remove the pork onto a platter and let rest for at least 5 minutes. Slice and serve.

I whipped this up in the slow cooker, and it was awesome served with broccoli and rice, and also as pulled pork sandwiches for the 2 kids and hubby for a few days without them getting tired of it! It got better and better until it was gone, so I figured it was worth sharing. You let me know what you think!

6 apples with peel, cored and cut into 8 wedges
1 large red onion, roughly chopped
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon, or to taste
7 pounds pork shoulder roast
½ teaspoon salt, or to taste
½ teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste
1 (24 ounce) jar cinnamon-flavored applesauce
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon, or to taste

Steps:

  • Place the apples and onion into the bottom of a slow cooker, and sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon.
  • Rub the pork roast with salt and pepper, and place it on the layer of apples and onions in the slow cooker. Pour the applesauce over the roast, and dust the top with 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon.
  • Cook on High setting for 8 hours. Serve the roast topped with the sauce, apples, and onions.

2 tablespoons chicken broth
1 (21 ounce) can apple pie filling
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon chicken bouillon granule
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons toasted pecans, chopped (optional)

Steps:

  • Brown the chops in the chicken broth.
  • Mix half of the can of the apple pie filling, the lemon juice, chicken bouillon and the cinnamon in the crock pot.
  • Place browned chops on top of the mixture in the crock pot.
  • Cook on low for 6-7 hours.
  • To serve, arrange chops on a platter. Heat the remaining apple pie filling and spoon on top of chops. Sprinkle with pecans, if desired.

1 boneless pork loin roast (2 to 3 pounds)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon canola oil
3 medium apples, peeled and sliced, divided
1/4 cup honey
1 small red onion, halved and sliced
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Minced fresh parsley, optional

Steps:

  • Sprinkle roast with salt and pepper. In a large skillet, brown roast in oil on all sides; cool slightly. With a paring knife, cut about sixteen 3-in.-deep slits in sides of roast; insert one apple slice into each slit., Place half of the remaining apples in a 4-qt. slow cooker. Place roast over apples.   • Rub roast with salt and pepper.
  • Brown pork roast under broiler to remove excess fat; drain well.

1 lb pork, any part will do i like mine wih little fat
1 (25 ounce) jar applesauce, add more if you like my kids eat all of it
1 cup buttermilk, per pound meat

Steps:

  • Take pork and add to a ziplock bag pour in what ever amount of buttermilk you need in the ziplock bag. If you don't have buttermilk just do what I do 1-cup milk and one TBL of vinegar.
  • Let this sit in the refrigerator for the night it will make the meat more tender the longer it sits.
  • Take meat out of bag wash it under some water. Take meat add to crock pot then add the applesauce.
  • Cook for about 8 hours or until its done the way you like.
  • If you want add apple wedges to the crock pot about 4 hours in to the pork being cooked you will then have a very soft apple wedge to add to your plate.

This is such an easy recipe to make - Put it in the Crock Pot & forget it. I like to add 1 tsp chili flakes. Add salt if you wish. You may use Country style ribs or loin chops but you must trim off all the fat. I find that sometimes cooking too long in the crock pot dries out the meat and found after 4 hours this was just right then turned it to keep warm for 2 more hours - It was wonderful. I found this recipe on the Internet
