THAI-STYLE PORK NOODLE BOWL

Thai-Style Pork Noodle Bowl image

I love Thai curry, and I love noodle bowls, and this is a blend of the two. It may not be authentic but it hits the spot.

Provided by thedailygourmet

Categories     World Cuisine Recipes     Asian

Time 30m

Yield 6

Number Of Ingredients 14

12 ounces refrigerated chow mein noodles
¼ cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon honey, or to taste
1 ½ teaspoons fish sauce
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 tablespoons red curry paste
1 tablespoon chopped garlic
1 teaspoon ginger paste
1 (13.5 ounce) can coconut milk
1 ½ pounds boneless pork loin chops, cut into thin strips
1 cup julienned carrots
1 (8 ounce) package sugar snap peas
¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro, or to taste
½ lime, zested and juiced

Steps:

  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook noodles in the boiling water, stirring occasionally, until tender yet firm to the bite, about 2 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  • Meanwhile, combine soy sauce, honey, and fish sauce in a small bowl until blended; set aside.
  • Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat for 1 to 2 minutes. Pour in vegetable oil. Add curry paste, garlic, and ginger paste; cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add coconut milk in intervals, stirring as you pour it in to keep the sauce from separating.
  • Add pork strips, carrots, and snap peas and cook until pork is cooked through, about 5 minutes. Add drained noodles to the skillet, then add soy sauce mixture. Simmer until sauce has thickened, 4 to 5 minutes.
  • Divide pork and noodle mixture among serving bowls and top with cilantro, lime zest, and juice. Serve immediately.

ASIAN-STYLE PORK AND NOODLES

Asian-Style Pork and Noodles image

Orange juice, hoisin sauce, and cider vinegar give this pasta its sweet-and-sour flavor. The vegetables are quickly cooked so they stay crisp.

Provided by Martha Stewart

Categories     Food & Cooking     Ingredients     Meat & Poultry     Pork Recipes

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 11

3/4 cup fresh orange juice
1/4 cup dark hoisin sauce
3 tablespoons cider vinegar
2 tablespoons ketchup
Coarse salt
1 large head broccoli, about 1 1/3 pounds
8 ounces wide egg noodles
8 ounces sugar snap peas, or snow peas, trimmed
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 pound boneless pork loin or tenderloin, sliced 1/2 inch thick, each slice cut into 1/2-inch-wide strips
3 tablespoons cornstarch

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, stir together orange juice, hoisin sauce, vinegar, ketchup, and 3/4 teaspoon salt; set sauce aside. Cut off tops 1 to 2 inches below florets. Trim broccoli and discard tough ends of stalks, then peel and thinly slice crosswise. Separate broccoli heads into florets.
  • In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook noodles until al dente according to package directions, adding broccoli (stalks and florets) and peas during last minute of cooking. Drain; transfer to a large bowl.
  • In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Dredge pork in cornstarch, shaking off excess. Saute pork until lightly browned and cooked through, tossing frequently, about 3 minutes. Pour in reserved sauce, and bring to a boil. Add to bowl with noodles; toss to combine.

HOISIN AND HONEY-GLAZED PORK WITH BOK CHOY AND NOODLES

Hoisin and Honey-Glazed Pork with Bok Choy and Noodles image

Taking cues from char sui (Chinese barbecue pork), this recipe uses a ginger- and five-spice powder-infused honey-hoisin glaze to bring rich, slightly sweet flavor to pork tenderloin. Baby bok choy and Chinese egg noodles complete the feast.

Provided by Food Network Kitchen

Time 40m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 12

3 tablespoons honey
3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 tablespoon minced peeled fresh ginger
1/4 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
1 pork tenderloin (1 to 1 1/4 pounds)
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
4 heads baby bok choy (about 12 ounces), leaves separated
8 ounces dried Chinese egg noodles
1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
Sliced scallions, for topping

Steps:

  • Position a rack in the upper third of the oven; preheat to 475 degrees F. Set a wire rack on a foil-lined baking sheet; set aside. Mix the honey, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, oyster sauce, ginger and five-spice powder in a small bowl. Cut the pork in half crosswise and prick all over with a fork; rub with 2 tablespoons of the honey-hoisin marinade, 1/4 teaspoon salt and a few grinds of pepper. Place on the wire rack.
  • Roast the pork until the surface looks dry, about 10 minutes. Remove 3 more tablespoons of the marinade to a separate bowl and brush all over the pork (save the remaining marinade for topping). Return to the oven and cook until a thermometer inserted into the center registers 145 degrees F, 16 to 18 more minutes. Transfer to a cutting board and let rest 5 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the bok choy and boil until crisp-tender, 30 to 45 seconds. Remove with a slotted spoon to a paper towel?lined plate. Add the noodles to the boiling water and cook as the label directs. Drain thoroughly, then toss with the sesame oil and season with salt.
  • Slice the pork. Divide the noodles among shallow bowls. Top with the pork and bok choy. Drizzle with the reserved honey-hoisin marinade and top with scallions.

Remove from the heat, add the vinegar and sesame oil.
  • For the Asian slaw: Whisk together the vinegar, honey, sesame oil, and soy sauce until the honey is dissolved. Add the peas, carrots, cabbage and sesame seeds. Toss to combine; season with salt and pepper. Cover and refrigerate until cold, at least 1 hour.
  • For serving: Using tongs, pull the pork into bite-size bits. Toss with the BBQ sauce. Mound some slaw on the bottoms of the buns. Top with the pork and the top bun.

ASIAN-STYLE PORK AND BROCCOLI IN GARLIC SAUCE

Asian-Style Pork and Broccoli in Garlic Sauce image

This can also be made in a large skillet, and is equally delicious using chicken *or* pork, I have made it with both and I have to say that I prefer the chicken better. You can double this recipe, but you will probably have to brown the meat in two batches depending on the size of your wok or skillet, and I strongly suggest to double this, it is very good! You can adjust all ingredients amounts to taste.
