BAKED ONION DIP
Some people like this cheesy dip so much that they can't tear themselves away from the appetizer table to eat their dinner. But can you blame them? With two kinds of cheese and sweet onions in the mix, this ultra creamy dip is unforgettable. -Mona Zignego, Hartford, Wisconsin

Steps:
- Heat a large sauté pan with a swirl of olive olive on medium heat.
- Add the onions to the pan, stirring them occasionally until they become slightly translucent along the edges. Stir in the salt and sugar. This will help jumpstart the caramelization process.
- Keep stirring and once the onions start to turn golden add in the bouillon cube and 1.5 cups of water. Bring this to a boil and simmer it until all of the water evaporates. Remove the onions from heat and let them cool.
- Fold the cream cheese and source cream into the caramelized onions. Stir in the thyme leaves and plenty of black pepper. Set this mixture aside.
- Pre-heat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Meanwhile, cut the top off of the sourdough loaf. Scoop out the inside of the loaf, tearing it into bite-sized pieces. Set the pieces aside. Scoop the dip into the bread and heat it in the oven for 5 minutes.
- Add the cheese on top and brush the sides of the bread with the butter. Bake the dip for another 10 minutes until the cheese is melty. Serve right away.
BAKED ONION DIP APPETIZER
FLAVOR GALORE! Great for parties or serve for Super Bowl event. Watch out -- this dip is ADDICTIVE! Great served on Triscuits Thin Crisps, Club or Ritz crackers. If you want more zing or bite increase garlic powder or hot pepper sauce. For best results do not exceed amount of butter or mayonnaise. A good inexpensive dip for parties and you may want to double the recipe for a party. Oh Man, this is good!!!

Steps:
- Melt 1 teaspoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add finely chopped onions and cook 5 minutes until golden brown, stirring occasionally. Cool slightly.
- Mix mayonnaise, both cheeses, parsley, garlic powder and hot pepper sauce in a medium bowl. Stir in onions and spoon into a baking dish.
- Bake in a 350 degree oven for 20 or 25 minutes or until heated through. (I have used my toaster oven with a flat bowl that fits.) Serve on triscuits, club or ritz crackers. I like the new triscuit thin crisps best.
- Enjoy!
