This was one of my favorite dishes growing up and now it is my children's. Ground beef, cheese and tomato sauce are baked into a simply delicious casserole.

1 pound ground beef
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
2 (15 ounce) cans tomato sauce
2 tablespoons butter
1 (16 ounce) package uncooked elbow macaroni
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Crumble the ground beef into a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook, stirring frequently, until evenly browned. Drain.
  • While the ground beef is cooking, bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add macaroni, and cook until tender, about 8 minutes. Drain, and stir in butter. Transfer to a large casserole dish, and mix in the ground beef, tomato sauce, and Cheddar cheese. Sprinkle a little salt and pepper over the top.
  • Bake uncovered for 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until heated through and bubbly.

2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
1 lb lean ground beef
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 medium onion, minced
2 cans condensed tomato soup
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can water
2 teaspoons sugar
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Cook macaroni and drain.
  • Brown together the ground beef, onion and garlic.
  • Drain if needed.
  • Mix in the soup, water and sugar to the beef mixture.
  • Add the cooked macaroni and stir.
  • Taste and add salt and pepper.
  • Cook over medium heat for 15 minutes, stirring often.

1 package (7 ounces) elbow macaroni
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 can (15 ounces) Italian tomato sauce
1 large egg
1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed cream of chicken soup, undiluted
1-1/2 cups 2% milk
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Cook macaroni according to package directions. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in tomato sauce; heat through., Drain macaroni; transfer to a greased 13x9-in. baking dish. In a small bowl, combine the egg, soup, milk, butter and parsley; pour over macaroni. Spoon beef mixture over top; sprinkle with cheese., Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 25-30 minutes or until bubbly. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.

My mom cooked this for us growing up and now I make it for my family. If you want to omit the peppers and onions due to picky eaters or cost, try adding Italian seasonings such as basil and oregano to the ground beef for added flavor.

1/4 cup green pepper, diced
1/4 cup onion, diced
1 lb ground beef
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
8 ounces elbow macaroni (half a box)
30 ounces tomato sauce (1 large can or 2 15 oz cans)
6 ounces tomato paste (1 small can)
8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, thinly sliced or shredded

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Saute the green pepper and onion in a large pot until tender. Add ground beef, salt, black pepper and garlic powder. Cook until the ground beef is browned and no longer pink. Drain.
  • Prepare macaroni according to package directions, salting the water liberally before boiling. Drain and combine with ground beef in a large baking dish. Stir in tomato sauce and tomato paste and mix well. Cover top with cheese and bake for 25 minutes.
