Ingredients: sugar,hot water,flour,egg yolks,sweet milk,butter,vanilla,pie crust,egg whites,salt

Steps:

  1. sift together flour and 1 cup sugar
  2. add egg yolks
  3. beat until smooth
  4. add milk , butter and vanilla
  5. set aside
  6. brown remaining 1 / 2 cup sugar in skillet
  7. add 1 / 2 cup hot water
  8. then add to flour mixture , stirring well
  9. cook until thick
  10. pour in baked pie shell
  11. meringue: beat egg whites and salt until stiff
  12. add sugar , 1 tablespoon at a time
  13. beat well
  14. add vanilla
  15. cover with meringue and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes , until golden brown
