- Add butter to a 1-1/2 quart casserole dish and place into a cold oven. Preheat the oven to 350 and let butter melt.
- In a mixing bowl, add flour, sugar, and baking powder and mix well. Stir in milk until combined.
- Once butter is melted, pour batter into pan with butter. Top with dollops of cherry pie filling.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until brown on top.
- Let stand to cool before serving warm as is or over vanilla ice cream

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place butter in a 9×9 inch baking dish and set on oven rack to melt. Remove the baking dish from the oven as soon as butter has melted.
- In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, and baking powder. Stir in milk and then pour the flour mixture into the baking dish with melted butter. DO NOT STIR.
- Next, pour cherry pie filling evenly into pan. DO NOT STIR.
- Bake cherry cobbler for 50 to 60 minutes, until the sides pull away from the edges of the pan and the cake is golden brown.
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

- Drain cherries, reserving 1-1/4 cups juice; set aside. Discard remaining juice. In a large saucepan, combine the sugars, cornstarch, cinnamon and nutmeg; stir in lemon juice and reserved cherry juice until smooth. Bring to a boil. This was handed down by my Grandmother. You can use any kind of fruit filling. If using cherry, pie filling can be substituted with 2 cups fresh cherries.

- Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and 1/2 cup sugar. Using large holes on a box grater, grate butter into flour mixture. With a fork, stir in cream until dough just comes together. On a floured work surface, roll out dough to a 3/4-inch thickness with a floured rolling pin. With a knife or biscuit cutter, cut out 8 to 12 rounds or squares of dough.
