4 pounds beef sirloin roast
3 carrots, chopped
3 stalks celery, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
½ (.75 ounce) packet dry brown gravy mix
2 tablespoons water
1 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
10 fluid ounces cola-flavored carbonated beverage

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Place meat in a roasting pan. Sprinkle carrots, celery and minced garlic around roast.
  • In a small bowl, combine the brown gravy mix and water, mixing into a smooth paste. Add onion soup mix, cream of mushroom soup and cola-flavored carbonated beverage. Pour over the roast.
  • Cover pan, and cook 1 hour in the preheated oven.
  • Reduce oven temperature to 225 degrees F (110 degrees C), and continue cooking 2 hours. Remove from oven, and turn roast over so that the top is now covered with the gravy. Cover pan, and return to oven for a minimum of 2 hours.
  • Remove from oven, and let meat rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

I've been making this for years, and just noticed it's not on here. A different twist on the Cola Roasts posted. You can use almost any kind of roast you like! The gravy is heavenly!!

3 -4 lbs beef roast or 3 -4 lbs pork roast
12 ounces cherry cola
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
1 (1 1/4 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
1 -2 garlic clove, minced
cornstarch (optional)
water (optional)

Steps:

  • Place roast in roasting pan that can be covered tightly.
  • Pour Cherry Cola over roast.
  • Mix soups and garlic together. Spread evenly over roast.
  • Cover tightly.
  • Bake at 325º for 3-4 hours, until tender.
  • Serve with something to sop up all that delicious gravy -- we love it with mashed potatoes!
  • If you'd like, you can thicken the gravy with a slurry of cornstarch and cold water.

Chuck Hughes' recipe for a super sweet drink with homemade cherry syrup is a treat for kids and grown-ups alike.

1 (1-liter) bottle cola or similar cola drink (Recommended: Coca Cola)
2 cups fresh cherries
2 cups sugar
1 cup water
Vanilla ice cream, to garnish

Steps:

  • Pit all cherries, leaving a few whole for garnish.
  • In a saucepan, mix the cherries, sugar, and water. Bring heat to medium high and stir, slowly reducing the liquid. Skim the surface of the syrup once in a while.
  • Once the liquid has reached a syrup-like consistency, about 25 minutes, remove from heat. Set aside to cool for 1 hour. Put in an airtight container and keep in the refrigerator.
  • For serving: In a frosted mug, add a scoop of ice cream, pour 1 tablespoon of the cherry mixture and top with coke. Garnish with fresh whole cherries.
  • Cook's Note: For a drink, remove the vanilla ice cream and add a splash of spiced rum.

1 cup sugar
1/4 cup maraschino cherry syrup, plus cherries for garnish
1 cup half-and-half
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 liter cola, chilled
4 ounces vanilla vodka, optional

Steps:

  • In a small pan over medium heat, add the sugar and 2 cups water and stir to dissolve. Bring to a boil, remove from the heat, and cool.
  • In the saucepan with the cooled sugar syrup, whisk in the maraschino cherry syrup, half-and-half, and vanilla. Pour into an 8 by 8-inch cake pan and freeze for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  • Fill 4 tall glasses 3/4 full with cola. Add 2 scoops of the frozen cherry mixture to each glass and top with a cherry. Add 1-ounce vanilla vodka, if using, to each glass.
  • Scrape the remaining frozen cherry mixture into a resealable freezer container and keep in the freezer for up to 1 week.

This is so easy it's almost embarrassing! This dish makes it's own gravy while it cooks. Although it sounds like an odd combination, it is truly delicious! *If you don't want to defrost the roast first, you can still use the same recipe, but cook about 4 1/2 to 5 hours.

1 (1 1/4 ounce) envelope onion soup mix
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
16 ounces cola
4 potatoes, cut in chunks
2 carrots, cut in chunks

Steps:

  • Place the roast in a deep covered roasting pan.
  • Sprinkle the soup mix over it, and dump the cream of mushroom soup over that.
  • Pour the cola over all and DO NOT MIX!
  • Add cut-up vegetables.
  • Cover roast and bake, undisturbed, in a 350 degree oven for 3 hours.

1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ devil's food cake mix
1 cup cherry cola carbonated beverage
1/2 cup vegetable oil
3 eggs
1 container Betty Crocker™ Whipped vanilla frosting
1 cup marshmallow creme
24 maraschino cherries with stems, well drained, if desired

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan). Spray bottom only of 13x9-inch pan with baking spray with flour. Chop cherries; set aside.
  • In large bowl, beat cake mix, cola beverage, oil, eggs and 1/4 cup reserved cherry liquid with electric mixer on low speed 30 seconds, then on medium speed 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Stir in chopped cherries. Pour into pan.
  • Bake 34 to 42 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely, about 1 hour.
  • In small bowl, mix frosting and marshmallow creme until smooth. Frost cake. Top each piece with 2 cherries with stems. Store loosely covered.

2 large eggs, room temperature
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
FROSTING:
3/4 cup butter, softened
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1 jar (7 ounces) marshmallow creme
2 tablespoons frozen cherry-pomegranate juice concentrate, thawed
Fresh sweet cherries with stems

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Line bottoms of 2 greased 9-in. round baking pans with parchment; grease paper. Divide marshmallows between pans., In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar and baking soda. In a small saucepan, combine butter, cola and cocoa; bring just to a boil, stirring occasionally. Add to flour mixture, stirring just until moistened., In a small bowl, whisk eggs, buttermilk and vanilla until blended; add to flour mixture, whisking constantly. Pour into prepared pans, dividing batter evenly. (Marshmallows will float to the top.), Bake 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pans 10 minutes before removing to wire racks; remove paper. Cool completely., For frosting, in a small bowl, beat butter and confectioners' sugar until smooth. Beat in marshmallow creme and juice concentrate on low speed just until blended., Place 1 cake layer on a serving plate; spread top with 1 cup frosting. Top with remaining cake layer; spread with remaining frosting. Decorate with cherries.

2 cups hickory smoke flavored barbeque sauce
1 (2 liter) bottle cherry cola
1 cup grape jelly
1 (4 pound) whole chicken, cut into 6 pieces

Steps:

  • In a Dutch oven, large enough to hold your chicken, combine the barbeque sauce, 1 liter of cola and grape jelly. Add the chicken and pour in more cola if needed to cover it. Bring to a boil, then simmer over medium-low heat for 1 hour, adding more cola as needed to keep the chicken covered.
  • Preheat a grill for medium heat. Remove the chicken from the sauce, and place on the grill.
  • Cook, turning frequently for about 20 minutes, just until the skin is crispy. Heat the leftover sauce over high heat and boil for about 10 minutes to serve alongside the chicken.
