This recipe was given to me by a friend. I was a bit skeptical at first as it would certainly take a lot to live up to a name like "Chicken for the Gods" but it is absolutely to die for . . . and so simple because I just throw it together in the crockpot in the morning and have an absolutely delicious meal when I get home.

1 3/4 cups flour
2 tablespoons dry mustard (scant)
6 boneless skinless chicken breasts
2 tablespoons oil
1 (10 ounce) can condensed chicken with rice soup
1/4 cup water

Steps:

  • Place flour and mustard in shallow bowl and coat chicken breasts.
  • In skillet, brown coated breasts in oil.
  • Place in slow cooker and pour condensed soup over the chicken. Add water.
  • Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours.

2 ts Sesame seeds -- toasted
1/2 c Waterchestnut powder -- *
1 tb Sherry
1/4 c Flour
1 Chicken -- * see note
1 ts Soy sauce
1/4 c Butter or margarine --
2 c Chicken stock -- seasoned
1/2 c Whipping cream
1 lg Egg -- beaten

Steps:

  • A chicken about 2 1/2-3 pounds-cut up. ** Available at most Chinese markets. Marinate chicken pieces in mixture of egg, sherry, soy sauce, 1/4 teaspoon salt and dash of pepper for 20 minutes. Coat each piece of chicken with water chestnut powder. Heat 1 inch of oil in pan. Add chicken and cook until tender and browned on both sides. Melt butter over medium heat and blend in flour and cornstarch. Bring chicken stock to a boil and stir rapidly while adding butter mixture. Reduce heat and add whipping cream (or half and half). Season to taste with salt and pepper. Neatly slice chicken pieces and arrange on hot platter. Cover with cream sauce and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds. 8 ounces chuck, trimmed, cut into 1 1/2-inch cubes
8 ounces sirloin, trimmed, cut into 1 1/2-inch cubes
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

Steps:

  • In separate batches, pulse the chuck and the sirloin in a food processor 10 times. Combine the chuck, sirloin, and kosher salt in a large bowl. Form the meat into 5-ounce patties.
  • Heat a cast iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat for 2 to 3 minutes. Place the hamburger patties in the pan. For medium-rare burgers, cook the patties for 4 minutes on each side. For medium burgers, cook the patties for 5 minutes on each side. Flip the burgers only once during cooking.

  • Add dates and walnuts and stir until completely combined.
  • Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 10 minutes. Lower heat to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C) and bake for 30-40 minutes or until done.
  • Cool on a wire rack for 20 minutes and cut into bars. Wrap individually with foil or colored cellophane wrap.

2 -2 1/2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts (cut into halves or thirds)
15 ounces artichoke hearts, drained and cut into 1/2 inch pieces
3 ounces sun-dried tomatoes, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
3/4 cup Annie's Goddess Dressing (or use good quality creamy Italian or Caesar dressing)
1/2 cup water

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Place chicken breasts in a large baking pan with sides. Add artichoke hearts and sundried tomatoes.
  • Whisk together water and dressing. Pour over chicken and vegetables. Turn the chicken several times to coat.
  • Bake the chicken, uncovered, for 25-30 minutes (or until cooked through), flipping chicken once and spooning the sauce over it during baking.
