Chocolate Fried Pies Recipe

  1. sugar
  2. flour
  3. unsweetened cocoa powder
  4. milk
  5. butter
  6. vanilla
  7. biscuit mix
  8. cooking oil
  9. powdered sugar


  1. for the filling: in a saucepan combine sugar , flour , and unsweetened cocoa powder
  2. stir in 1 / 2 cup milk and butter or margarine
  3. cook over medium heat till the mixture is thickened and bubbly
  4. stir constantly
  5. stir in vanilla
  6. cool
  7. for the dough: in a mixing bowl stir together the biscuit mix and 1 / 2 cup milk
  8. on a well floured surface knead the dough 12 times
  9. roll the dough to 1 / 8inch thickness
  10. cut dough into twelve inch circles
  11. place 1 tablespoon filling in the center of each circle of dough
  12. brush the edge of the dough with water
  13. fold the dough over the filling
  14. press the edges together with tines of a fork to seal
  15. in a skillet heat 1 inch cooking oil to 375
  16. fry the pastries for about 2 minutes , or until golden
  17. turn once
  18. drain on paper towel and sprinkle warm pastries with sifted powdered sugar
