this dish is savory and crunchy. i could not stop munching on the chinese noodles while i was preparing this dish.

Time: 70 minutes


  • brown onions and celery in butter
  • add rice and ground beef , and cook until brown
  • add soup , soy sauce , and water
  • stir in bean sprouts
  • place in a greased 2 quart baking dish
  • bake at 350 degrees for 39 minutes , covered
  • remove cover and bake for 30 more minutes
  • serve with chinese noodles

  • Saute' onions and celery in butter; add uncooked rice and ground beef. Brown.
  • Combine soup, water, soy sauce, pepper and bean sprouts.
  • Place into buttered casserole dish.
  • Add onion and meat mixture.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes, covered.
  • Bake, uncovered, for an additional 30 minutes.
  • Serve over noodles, chinese noodles or rice.

  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup uncooked rice
  • 1 lb hamburger
  • 1 (10 ounce) can mushroom soup
  • 1 (10 ounce) can cream of chicken soup
  • 1.5 (10 ounce) cans water (soup cans)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 (10 ounce) can bean sprouts

  • Cook and stir the meat, onion and garlic in a large skillet until the meat is brown.
  • Drain off the excess fat.
  • Mix the soy sauce, cornstarch, and molasses and stir this mixture into the meat mixture.
  • Stir in the bouillon, water, pea pods, water chestnuts, bamboo shoots and reserved mandarin orange syrup and heat to boiling.
  • Reduce the heat and simmer, covered, for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Stir in the orange segments, recover and heat for about 2 minutes.
  • Serve over cooked rice with additional soy sauce.
