CHURCH COOKBOOK BEEF ORIENTAL
this dish is savory and crunchy. i could not stop munching on the chinese noodles while i was preparing this dish.
Time: 70 minutes
- brown onions and celery in butter
- add rice and ground beef , and cook until brown
- add soup , soy sauce , and water
- stir in bean sprouts
- place in a greased 2 quart baking dish
- bake at 350 degrees for 39 minutes , covered
- remove cover and bake for 30 more minutes
- serve with chinese noodles

- Saute' onions and celery in butter; add uncooked rice and ground beef. Brown.
- Combine soup, water, soy sauce, pepper and bean sprouts.
- Place into buttered casserole dish.
- Add onion and meat mixture.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes, covered.
- Bake, uncovered, for an additional 30 minutes.
- Serve over noodles, chinese noodles or rice.

- 2 onions, chopped
- 1 cup chopped celery
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup uncooked rice
- 1 lb hamburger
- 1 (10 ounce) can mushroom soup
- 1 (10 ounce) can cream of chicken soup
- 1.5 (10 ounce) cans water (soup cans)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 (10 ounce) can bean sprouts

- Cook and stir the meat, onion and garlic in a large skillet until the meat is brown.
- Drain off the excess fat.
- Mix the soy sauce, cornstarch, and molasses and stir this mixture into the meat mixture.
- Stir in the bouillon, water, pea pods, water chestnuts, bamboo shoots and reserved mandarin orange syrup and heat to boiling.
- Reduce the heat and simmer, covered, for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in the orange segments, recover and heat for about 2 minutes.
- Serve over cooked rice with additional soy sauce.

- 1 medium onion, Sliced
- 1 clove garlic, Minced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon beef bouillon, Instant
- 3/4 cup water
- 6 ounces frozen Chinese pea pods, 1Pk
- 1 (5 ounce) can water chestnuts, drained and sliced
- 1 (5 ) can bamboo shoots, Drained
- 11 ounces mandarin orange segments, drained (reserve the syrup)
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon molasses
