1 (16-ounce) loaf thinly sliced white bread, crusts removed
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup confectioners sugar
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 cup butter, melted

Steps:

  • Flatten bread with a rolling-pin. In a bowl, combine cream cheese and confectioners' sugar. In another bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon; set aside. Spread about 1 tablespoon of cheese mixture on each slice of bread. Roll up, jelly roll style. Dip in melted butter, then in cinnamon-sugar. Place on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Good warm or cold.

2 tubes (8 ounces each) refrigerated crescent rolls
2 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
1-1/2 cups sugar, divided
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Unroll one tube of dough and place in a lightly greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking pan. Seal seams and perforations; set aside. In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese, 1 cup of sugar and vanilla until smooth. Spread over dough. , Unroll remaining tube of dough and place over cream cheese mixture, stretching to fit. Brush butter evenly over top; sprinkle with cinnamon and remaining sugar. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool; cut into squares.

I just came across the recipe in my files. This is from my grandmother. She used to make these for my sisters and I when we visited her. I had to improvise the name, because on my card it's called My Grandchildren's Secret Recipe. I remember making these with her one visit. She was an amazing cook and had a way of making you feel as though 'you' were the secret ingredient in all the amazing recipes she made.

1 loaf soft thin sliced bread (my grandma made it with white bread)
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg yolk
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3/4 cup sugar

Steps:

  • Cut the crust off the bread and flatten with a rolling pin.
  • Mix the cream cheese, sugar and egg yolk.
  • Spread the filling on the bread, and roll up.
  • Mix cinnamon and sugar.
  • Dip sticks in melted butter, and then dip in cinnamon sugar mix.
  • Sticks can be frozen at this time.
  • Place on greased baking sheet, and bake at 325 degrees for about 15-20 minutes, or until lightly browned.
