CINNAMON SUGAR CREAM CHEESE WONTONS



Cinnamon Sugar Cream Cheese Wontons image

I have made these for years and my friends and family love them. Try for yourself!

oil for frying
½ (8 ounce) package cream cheese, at room temperature
9 tablespoons white sugar, divided
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon, divided
¼ (16 ounce) package wonton wrappers, at room temperature

Steps:

  • Heat oil in a deep-fryer or large saucepan to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Mix cream cheese, 8 tablespoons sugar, and 1 tablespoon cinnamon in a bowl until well blended. Spoon 1 teaspoonful of the filling into each wonton wrapper. Fold the wonton like a triangle and seal 2 edges together with water; squeeze the sides together to lock out the air. Wet the ends of the triangle; fold into the center 1 at a time.
  • Place the filled wontons carefully into the oil; cook until golden brown on 1 side, about 2 minutes. Turn wontons over and cook until the other side is golden brown, about 2 minutes.
  • Mix 1 tablespoon cinnamon and 1 tablespoon sugar in a small bowl. Sprinkle on top of fried wontons.

4 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup sweetened shredded coconut
1/4 cup mashed ripe banana
2 tablespoons chopped walnuts
2 tablespoons canned crushed pineapple
1 cup marshmallow creme
24 wonton wrappers
Oil for deep-fat frying
SAUCE:
1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cornstarch
Confectioners' sugar and ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Stir in the coconut, banana, walnuts and pineapple. Fold in marshmallow creme., Position a wonton wrapper with 1 point toward you. Keep remaining wrappers covered with a damp paper towel until ready to use. Place 2 teaspoons of filling in the center of wrapper. Moisten edges with water; fold opposite corners together over filling and press to seal. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling., In a cast-iron or electric skillet, heat oil to 375°. Fry wontons, a few at a time, until golden brown, 15-20 seconds on each side. Drain on paper towels., Place strawberries in a food processor; cover and process until pureed. In a small saucepan, combine sugar and cornstarch. Stir in pureed strawberries. Bring to a boil; cook and stir until thickened, 2 minutes. If desired, strain mixture, reserving sauce; discard seeds. Sprinkle wontons with confectioners' sugar and cinnamon. Serve with sauce.

Here's a great autumn dessert that's waist friendly. Apples, cinnamon, brown sugar and a nice crunch. Great alternative when craving apple pie.

2 medium apples, McIntosh, peeled, cored and minced
1 tablespoon packed light brown sugar
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
24 wonton wrappers
1 1/2 tablespoons powdered sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350ºF. Coat a large baking sheet with butter flavored cooking spray.
  • In a medium bowl, combine apples, brown sugar, lemon juice and cinnamon; toss to coat apples.
  • Place wonton wrappers on a flat surface. Drop apple mixture by teaspoonfuls onto center of each wrapper. Moisten edges of wrapper with wet fingers, fold over one corner to make a triangle and press sides together to seal. Transfer filled wrappers to prepared baking sheet and coat surface with cooking spray.
  • Bake until wontons are golden brown, about 15 minutes. Place wontons on individual plates and sift with powdered sugar. Serve with ice cream on the side.

1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
32 wonton wrappers
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  • In a small bowl combine sugar & cinnamon.
  • Separate wonton wrappers & place on baking sheets, about 1/2 inch apart.
  • Using pastry brush, brush lightly with melted butter, then sprinkle evenly with cinnamon/sugar.
  • Bake 5-7 minutes, until crisp & golden, being careful not to overbake.
  • Cool on wire rack.
  • After cooled, keep in tightly covered in an airtight container.

1 ½ tablespoons margarine, melted
3 tablespoons cinnamon sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Lay the wonton wrappers out flat on a baking sheet. Brush evenly with melted margarine. Sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon sugar over the top of each one.
  • Bake for 5 minutes in the preheated oven, or until crisp. Remove from baking sheets to cool on wire racks.
