1 egg
½ cup cola-flavored carbonated beverage, divided
½ cup crushed saltine crackers
6 tablespoons French salad dressing, divided
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
1 ½ pounds ground beef

Steps:

  • Preheat a grill for high heat. When the grill is hot, lightly oil the grate.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together the egg, 1/4 cup of cola, crackers, 2 tablespoons of French dressing, and Parmesan cheese. Crumble in the ground beef, and mix well. Form into 6 balls, and pat into 3/4 inch patties. Pour the remaining cola and dressing into a small bowl, and mix well.
  • Grill burgers for about 3 minutes per side. Brush with the dressing and cola, then grill for 8 to 10 more minutes, basting occasionally.

1/2 cup (nondiet) cola, divided
6 tablespoons French salad dressing, divided
1 large egg
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon salt, divided
1-1/2 pounds lean ground beef (90% lean)
6 hamburger buns, split
Optional toppings: Lettuce leaves and tomato and red onion slices

Steps:

  • Combine saltine crumbs, 1/4 cup cola, 3 tablespoons salad dressing, egg, Parmesan cheese and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Add beef; mix well. Shape into six 3/4-in.-thick patties (the mixture will be moist); sprinkle with remaining salt. Combine remaining 1/4 cup cola and 3 tablespoons salad dressing., Grill patties, covered, over medium heat 3 minutes per side. Brush with cola mixture. Grill, brushing and turning occasionally, until a thermometer reads 160°, 3-4 minutes longer. Serve on buns; if desired, top with lettuce, tomato and onion.

1/2 cup cola, divided
1/2 cup crushed saltines (about 15)

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine egg, 1/4 cup cola, cracker crumbs, 2 tablespoons salad dressing, Parmesan cheese and salt. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well. Shape into six 3/4-in.-thick patties (mixture will be moist). , In a small bowl, combine remaining cola and salad dressing; set aside., Grill burgers, covered, over medium heat for 3 minutes on each side. 1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon liquid smoke
1/4 cup A-1 steak sauce
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Steps:

  • Combine the ingredients in a heavy saucepan and gradually bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce the heat slightly to obtain a gentle simmer. Simmer the sauce until reduced by 1/4, 6 to 8 minutes. Transfer the sauce to clean jars and let cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until serving. The sauce will keep for several months, refrigerated.
  • Use as you would any sauce, noting the strong affinity this sauce has for chicken, ribs, and pork.

1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 cup loosely packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup Coca-Cola
2 teaspoons dry mustard
salt & freshly ground black pepper
6 slices bacon

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
  • In a large bowl, combine the beans, onion, sugar, ketchup, Coke, dry mustard, and salt and pepper; stir till well blended. Scrape the mixture into a large, shallow baking dish.
  • Drape the bacon slices evenly over the top and bake uncovered till the bacon is thoroughly cooked and the beans are bubbling, 1 to 1 1/4 hours.
