Easy Hot Chocolate Recipe with Cocoa image

You'll love this super easy hot chocolate recipe! In just five minutes, you'll have warm, delicious, homemade hot chocolate. So much better than a mix!

1/3 cup water
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/3 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups milk (or more)
1 pinch sea salt

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, combine the water, cocoa powder, sugar, and a tiny pinch of sea salt. Whisk briskly to combine.
  • Bring almost to a boil over medium heat and whiskly briskly for a minute or two until smooth, glossy, and dark in color.
  • Pour in 1 1/2 cups of milk and whisk until frothy and slightly steamy, but do not boil. Taste, and add more milk if the hot chocolate is too strong for you.
  • Pour into mugs and enjoy!

I was messing around in my kitchen one day and was craving hot cocoa. Since I only had dark chocolate on hand, I used that, and for a festive touch added cinnamon. Pour into a mug and top with whipped cream or marshmallows, if desired. Serve hot.

1 cup whole milk
1 ½ teaspoons brown sugar, or to taste
2 ounces dark chocolate (such as Moser Roth® 85% Dark Chocolate), or to taste
1 tablespoon heavy whipping cream, or more to taste
1 pinch ground cinnamon, or more to taste

Steps:

  • Heat milk in a saucepan over medium heat until just before boiling, 3 to 4 minutes. Add brown sugar and stir until dissolved, about 1 minute. Stir dark chocolate into milk until melted, 2 to 3 minutes. Remove saucepan from heat and stir cream and cinnamon into milk mixture.

Creamy and thick homemade Hot Chocolate for a rich chocolatey goodness in every warm sip. The recipe is made with cooking (baking) chocolate, milk and cream for a warming and luxurious beverage.

6 to 7 tablespoons chopped semi-sweet chocolate ((or grated) - 50 grams, at room temperature)
2 cups whole milk
2 tablespoons raw sugar (or white sugar, add as required )
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (or ¼ to ½ teaspoon vanilla essence)
2 to 4 tablespoons whipped cream (or whipping cream or heavy cream, add as required - optional)

Steps:

  • Chop or grate the semi-sweet chocolate. You will need 6 to 7 tablespoons of chopped chocolate.
  • Take the chopped chocolate in a small mixing bowl. Set the bowl aside.
  • In a saucepan add milk and sugar.
  • Begin to heat the milk until it comes to a simmer and begins to gently boil. When you keep the milk on the stove-top, stir so that the sugar dissolves.
  • Switch off the heat and place saucepan on the countertop.
  • Then take 2 to 3 tablespoons milk from the hot milk in the saucepan and add to the bowl containing chopped chocolate.
  • With a whisk mix the hot milk with the chocolate to a smooth consistency.
  • Now pour this melted chocolate and vanilla extract in the hot milk in the saucepan which is placed on the kitchen countertop. Mix very well.
  • Pour hot chocolate in cups.
  • If you like top the hot chocolate with some whipped cream (or whipping cream) or heavy cream. If you have whipped cream, use it or simply add either heavy or whipping cream. You can also sprinkle some cocoa powder or chocolate shavings or gratings on top.
  • Serve homemade Hot Chocolate straightaway.

  • In a medium microwave safe bowl, melt just a few blocks of the chocolate in 60 second increments, stirring each time. The chocolate blocks are sold in 24 oz packages, and I usually only use half of the package at a time to make the bombs. Using this amount, I easily made 8-10. (My molds are 2 inches.) I also melt in small portions so it doesn’t have time to harden while I’m using the spoon to fill the molds.
  • Fill the molds by using the back of a spoon and move the chocolate around the inside of the mold until it is completely covered. Once the chocolate has hardened, use the spoon to add an additional layer of chocolate around the rim of each mold. Once the chocolate has firmed, remove the spheres from the molds, and repeat with the white chocolate, if you are making them as well. Once you have an equal amount of spheres, fill one side with a spoonful of hot cocoa, and a small spoonful of flavored chips, or candies, then add a few mini marshmallows.
  • To attach the spheres together, microwave a small plate, for about 30 seconds, until it is warm. Place the rim of the empty side of the chocolate sphere onto the plate, until it just begins to melt, then quickly attach the spheres together. You may need to gently brush a small amount of chocolate around the seam, to make sure they are attached. I have also made the bombs by dipping the rim of one side into warm chocolate to use as a glue. This works better, in my opinion, but you have to let the chocolate cool but still be warm, and dip quickly, or the sphere will melt, so I don’t recommend it for the first time you make the bombs.
