Our easy coffee syrup recipe makes a delicious sweetener that can be used to flavor alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, cakes, or ice cream.

1 cup white sugar
1 cup coffee (brewed extra-strength)

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar and extra-strength coffee. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly to dissolve the sugar.
  • Lower the heat and simmer for 3 minutes, stirring often.
  • Transfer the coffee syrup to a container and let it cool to room temperature.
  • Seal and store tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to 1 month. Use in your favorite food and drink recipes, and enjoy.

BEEF TENDERLOIN WITH BALSAMIC COFFEE SAUCE



Beef Tenderloin with Balsamic Coffee Sauce image

This full flavored entree is guaranteed to satisfy your appetite!

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 10

3/4 tsp coarsely ground black pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp salt
4 beef tenderloin steaks (5 oz each), about 1 inch thick
2 Tbsp canola oil
4 large shallots, peeled and finely chopped
6 oz sliced portabella mushrooms
3/4 cup strong coffee
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 200 °F (400 C).2. In small bowl, combine black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and 1/4 tsp (1 mL) salt. Sprinkle both sides of steaks with spice mixture, pressing down with fingertips to adhere. Set aside. Let stand for 15 minutes.3. Heat 1 Tbsp (15 mL) canola oil in large, nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Cook steaks 4 minutes, turn and cook 2 to 4 minutes longer or until desired doneness. Place steaks on separate plate and place in oven to keep warm.4. Heat remaining 1 Tbsp canola oil to pan residue in skillet, cook shallots 15 seconds, stirring constantly. Add mushrooms and cook 3 minutes or until tender, stirring frequently, using two utensils as you would with stir-fry. Spoon equal amounts over beef and return to oven to keep warm.5. To skillet, add coffee, vinegar and remaining 1/4 tsp (1 mL) salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, continue to boil 4 or so minutes or until reduced to 1/4 cup (60 mL). Spoon over all and top with additional coarsely ground black pepper, if desired.

Coffee Crusted Tri Tip with Balsamic Stout Reduction image

Coffee Crusted Tri Tip steak is rubbed with fresh herbs and coffee, grilled to perfection and drizzled with balsamic stout reduction for the perfect dinner!

1/3 cup ground coffee
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 tbsp kosher salt
1 tbsp black pepper
1 tbsp fresh rosemary (chopped)
1 tbsp fennel seeds
3 lb tri tip
1/4 cup olive oil
1/2 cup stout
1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
2 tbsp brown sugar

Steps:

  • Combine the coffee, brown sugar, salt, pepper, rosemary and fennel seeds in a small bowl.
  • Trim most of the fat from the tri tip, leaving a thin layer for flavor.
  • Brush the olive oil on all sides of the steak, then rub with the coffee spice mixture.
  • Place on the grill for 45 minutes, flipping every 15 minutes, or until a meat thermometer inserted in the middle registers 145°F (for medium rare).
  • Remove from the grill and rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  • In the meantime, prepare the Balsamic Stout Reduction. Simply add all of the ingredients to a small saucepan and simmer until reduced by almost half. Serve drizzled over the delicious steak.

  • Remove the meat from the sauté pan; pour off all but 2 tablespoons of fat (add fat if you need to).
  • Remove the pan from the heat; add wine to deglaze the pan while scraping any bits stuck to the pan when cooking the meat.
