My dad-a big steak lover-got this recipe form a friend, and now we never eat steak without using this marinade. It makes the meat so juicy and adds a great flavor.

2 tablespoons sesame seeds
6 tablespoons butter
1 medium onion, chopped
4 garlic cloves, minced
1 cup strong brewed coffee
1 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons white vinegar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 pounds beef top sirloin steak (1 inch thick)

Steps:

  • In a small skillet, toast sesame seeds in butter. Add onion and garlic; saute until tender. In a large bowl, combine the coffee, soy sauce, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce and sesame seed mixture. , Pour half into a shallow dish; add steak and turn to coat. Cover and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight, turning occasionally. Cover and refrigerate remaining marinade., Drain and discard marinade from steak. Grill steak, covered, over medium-hot heat for 6-10 minutes on each side or until meat reaches desired doneness (for medium-rare, a thermometer should read 135°; medium, 140°; medium-well, 145°). Warm reserved marinade; serve with steak.

3 cups strong dark-roast brewed coffee
6 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon lemon juice
2 tablespoons arrowroot
3/4 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • Put coffee in a pan with 4 Tbsp of the granulated sugar and the lemon juice and bring to a boil.
  • Simmer very briskly until reduced by half.
  • Chill.
  • Mix arrowroot with 3 Tbsp of the cold coffee mixture.
  • When quite smooth, stir in the rest of the coffee mixture and half the heavy cream.
  • Stir over low heat until it come to a boil and then add the rest of the granulated sugar.
  • Simmer about 10 minutes.
  • Chill slightly.
  • Whip the remaining cream.
  • When it begins to thicken, add the confectioners sugar and continue beating until stiff.
  • Mix slowly into the coffee sauce.
  • Serve.

3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
4 cloves garlic, slivered
2 large onions, sliced
1 large green bell pepper, sliced
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 ½ pounds extra lean ground beef
2 (4 ounce) cans button mushrooms, drained
1 (16 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce with garlic
3 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste, or to taste
1 tablespoon instant coffee granules
1 cup hot water

Steps:

  • Place 3 tablespoons of olive oil into a saucepan over medium heat, and cook the garlic in the oil for 1 minute. Stir in the onions, and cook until translucent, about 5 more minutes. Stir in the green bell pepper, and cook until the pepper begins to become tender, about 5 more minutes. Set the vegetables aside.
  • Place 2 tablespoons of olive oil into a large saucepan over medium heat, and cook and stir the ground beef until the meat is no longer pink, about 10 minutes. Break the meat up into crumbles as it cooks. Mix in the mushrooms, spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce, tomato paste (if you prefer a thicker sauce), and vegetables. Bring the sauce to a boil, and reduce heat to a simmer. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the flavors have blended, about 30 minutes.
  • Mix the coffee granules into the hot water, and pour into the sauce; simmer for 30 more minutes.

1 cup heavy cream
1 cup very strong brewed coffee
3 egg yolks
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • In a medium-sized, heavy saucepan, scald together the cream and coffee.
  • Beat the egg yolks with the sugar for 8-10 minutes with the electric mixer until mixture is very thick and lemony-colored.
  • Gradually beat in the warm coffee mixture.
  • Return to the pan and cook over low heat, stirring, until mixture boils and thickens.
  • Stir the vanilla.
  • Cool, cover, and chill until very cold. Enjoy spooned over a brownie, plain angel food cake, or pound cake for delicious desserts.

2 c milk
1 3/4 oz heavy cream
1 egg yolk
2 oz sugar
1 Tbsp instant coffee powder
1 tsp corn starch
1 Tbsp butter

Steps:

  • 1. Using a whisk, carefully whip together the butter, egg yolk and sugar in a bowl until you have a fluffy cream. Then incorporate the starch and coffee. Continue mixing until uniform.
  • 2. Add the cream, stirring delicately, and incorporate the milk by pouring in a little at a time while stirring. Pour the mixture into a small saucepan and place it over medium heat.
  • 3. Continue to stir the cream until it becomes slightly more dense and velvety. Remove from the heat just before it begins to boil.
  • 4. Let the sauce cool and serve cold, poured onto puddings or icecream.

Steps:

  • Stir 2 tablespoons water and 4 teaspoons coffee powder in small bowl until coffee powder dissolves. Stir remaining 6 tablespoons water and 1 1/3 cups sugar in heavy medium saucepan over low heat until sugar dissolves. Increase heat and boil without stirring until syrup turns deep amber, occasionally brushing down sides of pan with pastry brush dipped into water and swirling pan, about 8 minutes. Remove saucepan from heat. Add whipping cream, butter and coffee mixture (mixture will bubble vigorously). Return to heat and bring to boil, whisking constantly until smooth. Whisk in salt. Divide sauce between two 8-ounce canning jars; seal jars tightly with lids. (Sauce can be prepared 2 weeks ahead; refrigerate. Rewarm over medium-low heat, stirring constantly.)

2 tablespoons chili powder

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • Put espresso or coffee, ketchup, vinegar, brown sugar, onion, garlic, chile peppers, dry mustard, Worcestershire sauce , cumin, and chili powder in a small pot, stir them together and bring to a simmer over medium-high heat.
  • Lower the heat so the mixture is just simmering and let simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Remove the pot from the heat, let the mixture cool.
  • Puree in a blender.
