Good 1 dish meal for potlucks--very versatile--you can use your imagination and add many other ingredients to make it different. I often add mushrooms and do with bread crumbs.

8 ounces egg noodles
1 lb ground beef
1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
1/4 cup sour cream
1 cup small curd cottage cheese
1/2 cup chopped green onion
2 tablespoons chopped green peppers
2 tablespoons melted butter

Steps:

  • Cook noodles; drain and set aside.
  • Brown meat; drain.
  • Add tomato sauce to beef; remove from heat.
  • In a separate bowl, mix cream cheese, cottage cheese, sour cream, onions and peppers.
  • Butter a casserole dish and spread 1/2 the noodles in the bottom.
  • Cover noodles with 1/2 the cheese mixture, then 1/2 the meat mixture, then 1 more layer of noodles, then cheese mixture and then meat mixture.
  • Pour 2 tablespoons butter over top; press down slightly.
  • Bake at 375° for 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minute.
  • If drier casserole is desired, cook 15 minutes longer.

1 ½ pounds ground beef
salt and ground black pepper to taste
½ cup chopped yellow onion
¼ cup chopped green bell pepper
¼ cup chopped carrot
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (8 ounce) can sliced mushrooms, drained
1 tablespoon brown sugar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 (8 ounce) package bow-tie pasta (farfalle)
1 (10.75 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
¼ pound shredded Cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir beef, salt, and black pepper in the hot skillet until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes; drain and discard grease. Add onion, green bell pepper, carrot, and garlic to ground beef; cook and stir until onion is lightly browned, about 15 minutes.
  • Mix tomatoes, tomato sauce, mushrooms, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce into ground beef-vegetable mixture; season with salt and black pepper. Cook on low until liquid is reduced and flavors have blended, about 45 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook the bow-tie pasta at a boil, stirring occasionally, until cooked through yet firm to the bite, about 12 minutes; drain and transfer pasta to a 9x13-inch casserole dish.
  • Spoon cream of mushroom soup over bow-tie pasta; top with ground beef-tomato mixture. Sprinkle Cheddar cheese on top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until casserole is bubbling and Cheddar cheese is melted, about 45 minutes.

1 pound lean ground beef
1 onion, chopped
2 (7 ounce) cans tomato sauce with mushrooms
1 teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper

1 cup cottage cheese
½ cup chopped green onions
½ cup shredded Cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with the onion until no pink shows; drain. Mix in 1 of the cans of tomato sauce, salt, pepper and cinnamon. Pour into shallow 3 quart casserole baking dish.
  • Pour in noodles in an even layer. Top with cottage cheese; sprinkle with onions and Cheddar cheese. Pour on remaining can of tomato sauce.
  • Bake in a preheated over for 30 minutes.

This beef casserole recipe is full of flavour and easy to make. There is nothing better than a bowl of nourishing comfort food, and here is one of our all-time winners.

1 kg (2lb 11oz) braising steak, cut into 4cm (1½in) cubes
2 tbsp. vegetable oil
8 shallots, halved
250 g (9oz) portobello mushrooms, thickly sliced
1 tbsp. plain flour
150 ml (5fl oz) red wine
800 ml (1 pint 7fl oz) beef stock
Handful dried wild mushrooms
3 thyme sprigs
1 bay leaf
25 g (1oz) cornflour
Handful chopped fresh parsley

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 160°C (140°C fan) mark 3. Pat beef dry with kitchen paper and season. Heat 1½tbsp of the oil in a large ovenproof casserole dish and brown beef in batches. Set aside.
  • Heat remaining oil and fry the shallots for 2-3min until golden, then add the portobello mushrooms and fry for 2-3min until softened.
  • Return beef to the pan with any juices and stir in the flour. Add the wine, stock, dried mushrooms, thyme and bay leaf. Bring to the boil, then cover and cook in oven for 2hr or until beef is tender.
  • Strain the stew, reserve beef mixture and return liquid to the pan. In a small bowl, mix together cornflour and 3tbsp water. Add to the pan and heat on the hob. Boil the sauce for 4-5min, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens. Add the strained beef mixture and heat through (don't boil or the meat will toughen). 1 medium onion, chopped
1 cup celery, chopped
1 (4 ounce) can mushrooms
4 ounces margarine
6 ounces herb stuffing mix
1 1/3 cups hot water
10 3/4 ounces cream of chicken soup
1/4 cup hot water
1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese, grated

Steps:

  • Brown ground beef, onion and celery.
  • Add mushrooms. Mix together.
  • Blend margarine, stuffing mix and 1 1/3 cups of water.
  • In a 2 quart casserole, layer half of meat mixture and then all of stuffing mixture.
  • Cover with remaining meat mixture.
  • Blend 1/4 cup of water with soup and pour over casserole.
  • Sprinkle with grated cheese the last 15 minutes of baking.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

This ground beef casserole recipe is super easy to throw together and feeds a crowd! It's comforting and uses simple ingredients.

1 pound uncooked penne
1/2 medium onion (chopped)
1 pound extra lean ground beef
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 clove garlic (minced)
1.5 cups marinara sauce
Salt & pepper (to taste)
1.5 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat your oven to 400F and move the rack to the middle position. Grease a 9x13 baking dish (I use Pam spray).
  • Boil a large, salted pot of water for the penne. Cook it for 10 minutes (it should be slightly underdone so it doesn't get mushy).
  • Add the oil, beef, and onion to a skillet. Sauté over medium-high heat, breaking the meat up as you go along, for 10 minutes. Once it gets going, stir in the garlic. Spoon out excess fat if needed.
  • Stir in the marinara sauce and warm through. Give it a taste and season with salt & pepper as needed.
  • Drain the pasta and pour it into the baking dish. Pour the beef mixture over top and then toss until it's combined with the pasta. Top with an even layer of the cheese. If you want it extra cheesy, you can stir in an additional half cup of cheese prior to topping it with the rest of the cheese.
  • Bake for 10 minutes, uncovered, until the cheese is nicely melted. I then broil it for a few minutes (optional) to brown the cheese up a bit. Serve immediately.

1 cup onion (diced)
3 cloves garlic (minced)
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Kosher salt (to taste)
Black pepper (to taste)
2 cans condensed cream of mushroom soup
¾ cup milk
½ cup sour cream
1 ½ teaspoons Italian seasoning
2 cups cheddar cheese (shredded, divided)
3 pounds Yukon gold potatoes (thinly sliced)
½ cup Monterey jack cheese (shredded)
Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Spray the inside of a 9x13 baking dish with cooking spray and set aside.
  • In a large skillet set over medium heat, add beef and onion and cook until no longer pink, 5-6 minutes. Remove from heat, drain off any excess grease, and stir in garlic, Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon kosher salt, and ½ teaspoon pepper and cook for another 2 minutes.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine condensed soups, milk, sour cream, Italian seasoning, and ½ cup cheddar cheese.
  • Spread ½ cup of the soup mixture in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  • Arrange ⅓ of the sliced potatoes in a shingled layer in the baking dish. Top with half of the meat, then pour on half of the sauce, spreading it evenly. Repeat with remaining ingredients to create a second layer. Layer on the remaining potatoes, then sprinkle on the rest of the cheese.
  • Cover the dish with aluminum foil, place on a rimmed baking sheet, and bake for 80 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 20 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork tender and cheese is melted.
  • Allow to sit for 10 minutes, then garnish with parsley and serve.
