  1. onions
  2. cabbage
  3. salad oil
  4. salt
  5. soy sauce
  6. sugar


  1. peel , rinse , and thinly slice onion
  2. peel and rinse cabbage
  3. chop into 1-inch squares
  4. steam about 8 minutes and remove to serving bowl
  5. heat wok
  6. add oil and swirl to heat
  7. add onion and toss briefly until fragrant
  8. turn off heat
  9. add salt , soy sauce , and sugar , and toss
  10. pour onion mixture over cabbage , and serve as part of a chinese meal
