This Instant Pot Ham is juicy, flavorful and so easy to make with a spiral-sliced ham and sweet maple glaze that warms up in the pressure cooker. 4 pounds spiral-sliced ham
1/4 cup unsalted butter (, you can sub with ghee (for paleo and Whole30) or use vegan butter for dairy-free)
3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons golden monk fruit sweetener
2 cloves garlic (, minced)

Steps:

  • Prepare the glaze: Heat the butter and monk fruit sweetener in a small pot over medium low heat until the butter has melted. Whisk in the mustard and garlic until combined. Remove from heat.
  • Insert a trivet inside the inner pot of pressure cooker. Pour in 1 cup water.Place ham on the trivet and brush glaze on outside and inside the spirals of the ham.
  • Close the lid and press the "manual" or "pressure cook" button and set timer to 9 minutes. The pressure cooker may take 10 minutes to come to pressure. Once cook time has elapsed, allow the Instant Pot to naturally release all the pressure (around 10 minutes).Carefully open the lid and transfer the ham to a cutting board. Serve with any leftover glaze.
  • For an extra-caramelized coating - set the oven to broil. Remove the ham from the pressure cooker and place on a foil-lined baking sheet and brush with leftover glaze.Place the ham under the broiler for 2-3 minutes or until the glaze is bubbly and caramelized.
  • Slice ham and serve.

1 (2 pound) frozen whole ham
1 (16 ounce) can crushed pineapple
¼ cup dark brown sugar
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons water, or as needed

Steps:

  • Place ham on a trivet and set it inside a multi-functional pressure cooker (such as Instant Pot®). Pour crushed pineapple over ham. Sprinkle brown sugar and drizzle maple syrup on top. Secure the lid with vent closed.
  • Select high pressure according to manufacturer's instructions; set timer for 35 minutes. Allow 10 to 15 minutes for pressure to build.
  • Release pressure using the natural-release method according to manufacturer's instructions, 10 to 40 minutes. Remove ham and trivet. Cut ham into slices and place on a plate.
  • Select Saute setting on the pressure cooker. Mix cornstarch with water until smooth. Stir mixture into the pot, bring to a boil, and stir until thickened. Pour sauce over the ham.

This recipe is for a bone-in, spiral-cut, pre-cooked ham. When you buy a spiral ham at the grocery store, it's almost always already fully cooked which means most of the time you just need to heat it through. The ham's packaging comes with suggestions about how long to cook or heat the ham and those suggestions always recommend using an oven. I'm here to tell you that I don't think I'll ever use an oven to warm a bone-in, spiral ham ever again after using an Instant Pot®!

¼ cup water
6 ½ pounds bone-in, spiral-cut ham
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup honey
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground ginger
1 pinch freshly grated nutmeg
1 pinch ground cloves

Steps:

  • Pour water into the steel basin of a multi-functional pressure cooker (such as Instant Pot®). Place the ham, sliced side-down, into the pot.
  • Mix brown sugar, honey, mustard, Worcestershire, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves together in a bowl. Pour glaze on top of the ham. Close and lock the lid.
  • Select high pressure according to manufacturer's instructions; set timer for 10 minutes. Allow 10 to 15 minutes for pressure to build.
  • Release pressure using the natural-release method according to manufacturer's instructions for 10 minutes. Release any remaining pressure carefully using the quick-release method according to manufacturer's instructions, about 5 minutes. Unlock and remove the lid.
  • Drain liquid from the pot into a bowl and set aside. Allow ham to rest for at least 10 minutes; remove to a platter.
  • Select Saute function and add the liquid back into the pot. Cook until reduced to your liking, 5 to 10 minutes. Pour sweet sauce on top of ham slices when serving.

1 (2 1/2 to 3 lb) boneless ham, unsliced
4 tablespoons butter, melted
2 tablespoons packed brown sugar

1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper (cayenne)

Steps:

  • Spray 6-quart Instant Pot™ with cooking spray. Add broth to insert; place rack in bottom of insert. Make 12 thin cuts in ham, leaving bottom 1/2 inch uncut. Place ham, cut side up, on rack in insert.
  • Secure lid; set pressure valve to SEALING. Select MANUAL; cook on high pressure 15 minutes. Select CANCEL. Set pressure valve to VENTING position to release pressure manually. Internal temperature in bottom center of ham (uncut portion) should be at least 140°F using instant-read thermometer. If ham is not done, select MANUAL, and cook on high pressure 3 minutes longer. Select CANCEL. Set pressure valve to VENTING position to release pressure manually.
  • When cool enough to handle, carefully transfer ham to cutting board. Cut slices away from the ham.
  • In small bowl, stir together melted butter, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce and red pepper. Stir in 2 tablespoons of the cooking liquid. Serve ham with the butter sauce.
