Country Style Fresh Blackberry Pie Recipe

Ingredients:

  1. fresh blackberries
  2. fresh lemon juice
  3. sugar
  4. flour
  5. cinnamon
  6. nutmeg
  7. butter
  8. double crust pie crusts
  9. milk
  10. vanilla ice cream

Steps:

  1. rinse blackberries in colander , dry on papertowels
  2. make and roll out enough pie dough to line a regular 9" pie plate
  3. cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate to keep cold
  4. wrap other ball of dough and chill , too
  5. place blackberries in large bowl , sprinkle with lemon juice
  6. set aside
  7. in small bowl , mix 1 cup sugar with the flour , cinnamon and nutmeg
  8. sprinkle over berries and slightly toss very gently
  9. remove dough-lined plate from fridge , , and gently pour berries into pie plate
  10. be sure to slightly mound them in the center
  11. evenly dot top of berries with cut up butter
  12. set aside
  13. roll out second portion of pie dough to an 11" circle
  14. cut a 2" cross in center
  15. fold back each center point to create a steam vent
  16. place top crust over filling
  17. fold edge of top crust under edge of bottom crust and press together to seal
  18. stick four toothpicks down through the points of steam vents on the top crust to hold in place while baking
  19. crimp edge of pie crust all the way around
  20. brush top with milk and sprinkle with sugar
  21. place pie on foil-lined cookie sheet to catch any spills
  22. cover edge of pie crust with foil to prevent over-browning
  23. bake in 400 degree oven for 40-45 minutes or til juices bubble through steam vent and crust is golden brown
  24. remove to wire rack to cool
  25. remove toothpicks
  26. serve warm with vanilla ice cream if preferred !
