  1. dark brown sugar
  2. cornstarch
  3. salt
  4. nonfat milk
  5. egg yolks
  6. butter
  7. vanilla extract

Steps:

  1. in a small saucepan , combine the brown sugar , cornstarch and salt
  2. add milk and egg yolks
  3. stir until smooth
  4. cook and stir over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil
  5. cook and stir 1-2 minutes longer or until thickened
  6. remove from the heat
  7. stir in butter and vanilla
  8. cool to room temperature , stirring several times
  9. pour into four individual dessert dishes
  10. cover and refrigerate for 1-2 hours or until chilled
