You can count on a creamy bowl of this tempting treat to beat the summer heat. It's easy to make, and kids love the crunchy candy bar and ice cream combination. People line up for it at our church ice cream socials.

2 quarts half-and-half cream
1 cup milk
2-1/4 cups sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 eggs, lightly beaten
4-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
5 Butterfinger candy bars (2.1 ounces each), chopped

Steps:

  • In a large heavy saucepan, heat the cream and milk to 175°; stir in sugar and salt until dissolved. Whisk a small amount of hot mixture into eggs. , Return all to the pan, whisking constantly. Cook and stir over low heat until mixture reaches at least 160° and coats the back of a metal spoon. , Remove from the heat. Cool quickly by placing pan in a bowl of ice water; stir for 2 minutes. Stir in vanilla. Press plastic wrap onto surface of custard. Refrigerate for several hours or overnight., Stir in candy bars. Fill cylinder of ice cream freezer two-thirds full; freeze according to manufacturer's instructions. Refrigerate remaining mixture until ready to freeze. Allow to ripen in ice cream freezer or firm up in the refrigerator freezer for 2-4 hours before serving.

1 jar (11-3/4 ounces) hot fudge ice cream topping
FILLING:
1/2 cup cold milk
2 packages (3.4 ounces each) instant vanilla or chocolate pudding mix
2 cartons (16 ounces each) frozen whipped topping, thawed
6 to 7 (2.07 ounces each) Snickers candy bars, chopped, divided

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine the crumb and sugar; stir in butter. Press onto an ungreased 13-in. x 9-in. dish. In a small saucepan, heat the fudge topping over low heat until warmed; pour evenly over crust. Cool. , In a large bowl, beat the milk, pudding mix and whipped topping for 2-3 minutes or until stiff, scraping sides of bowl often. Stir in three-fourths of the candy bar pieces. Pour over crust. 1 pint chocolate ice cream
3 jumbo craft sticks
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
⅔ cup coconut oil

Steps:

  • Line a baking sheet with waxed paper.
  • Remove the lid from ice cream container. Working quickly, cut the container off the ice cream and turn ice cream on its side on a work surface. Insert craft sticks into the side of the ice cream, evenly spacing them. Cut the ice cream between the sticks, creating 3 bars.
  • Arrange ice cream bars in the prepared baking sheet; freeze until completely solid, 8 hours to overnight.
  • Combine chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl; heat in microwave in 30-second intervals, mixing well each time, until chocolate hard shell mixture is smooth, 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Hold 1 ice cream bar over a separate measuring cup and pour chocolate hard shell mixture over bar to cover completely. Let chocolate dry for a few seconds and pour chocolate hard shell mixture over bar again, creating a thick shell. Place bar back in the waxed paper. Repeat with remaining bars and chocolate hard shell mixture.
  • Freeze bars until set, at least 15 minutes.

Steps:

  • Double line a 9-inch square baking pan with foil, leaving 2 handles extended over the sides.
  • Pulse the cookies in a food processor until fine. Toss the cookies and butter in a medium bowl. Firmly press the cookie crumbs into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  • Carefully spread the softened ice cream across the crust. Drizzle with the caramel and top with the whipped topping. Sprinkle with a dusting of shaved chocolate. Place in the freezer for 3 hours to firm up.

  • Whisk the half-and-half, condensed milk, sugar, vanilla seeds and salt together until sugar is dissolved. Churn the mixture in an ice cream machine according to the manufacturer's instructions. (Take care not to over-churn the ice cream or it can have a grainy texture.)

Steps:

  • For crust:.
  • In a bowl, combine crumbs and sugar.

  • Pour fudge topping over crust.
  • Allow to cool for 15 minutes.
  • For filling:.
