4 cups strongly brewed coffee-chicory blend
6 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons whole milk
1/2 cup rum-based orange liqueur, such as Rhum Clement Creole Shrubb
Ice cubes
Orange twists, for garnish

Steps:

  • Combine coffee-chicory blend, milks, and liqueur, and stir to combine well. Refrigerate until well chilled, at least 1 1/2 hours. Serve over ice, garnished with orange twists.

50ml Irish whiskey
½ - 1 tsp brown sugar
pinch freshly grated nutmeg

Steps:

  • Lightly whip the cream just so it's very slightly thickened, then set aside.
  • Pour the hot coffee into a mug or heatproof glass, then add the whiskey and sugar. Stir until the sugar has dissolved. Gently float the cream on the top and sprinkle the nutmeg over the cream. Serve hot.

1 ¼ cups white sugar
2 tablespoons water
¼ cup slivered almonds
1 cup chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Butter a 10x15 inch jellyroll pan.
  • Melt butter in a heavy skillet over medium heat. Stir in sugar and water. Bring to a boil and add almonds. Cook, stirring constantly until nuts are toasted and the sugar is golden. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan; do not spread.
  • Immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips on top. Let stand for a minute, then spread the chocolate over the top. Let cool completely, then break into pieces.

This is my own creation. I had a couple bags of Community Coffee and decided to create a drink. I was inspired by the Spanish coffee, and wanted to go with a rum base due to the fact that "Creole" style in general is very prevalent in the caribbean. And seeing that New Orleans is very Creole in of itself and has many wide influences from the Caribbean, I figured this recipe would come close authentic wise. Plus is DELICIOUS!

3/4 ounce Bacardi 151 rum
1 1/4 ounces coconut rum
1 1/4 ounces Godiva original chocolate liqueur
4 ounces strong chicory coffee (Like community coffee, french market or CDM)
1 dash cinnamon
sugar, for rim
1 dash cocoa powder
2 tablespoons whipped cream (optional)

Steps:

  • Coat the rim of a 8oz glass mug with sugar (wet edges with sweetened lime juice or water and then dip into container of sugar).
  • Add the 151 rum and light on fire with match or long tipped candle lighter. gently swirl lit rum around the glass to caramelize the sugar on the rim. Add dash of cinnamon to firey rum to toast.
  • Immediately add coconut rum, chocolate liquor and chicory coffee.
  • Garnish with whipped cream and top with dash of coco powder.
  • Serve immediately.
