SLOW-COOKER BEER BRATS

Steps:
- In 10-inch nonstick skillet, cook bratwurst over medium-high heat, turning frequently, just until outsides are brown. Place in 5- to 6-quart slow cooker.
- Top with onion slices, garlic, butter, salt and pepper. Pour in beer.
- Cover and cook on High heat setting 4 hours or Low heat setting 7 to 8 hours.
- Serve with sauerkraut and mustard.

- Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat. When hot, lightly oil grate.
- Combine the beer and onions in a large pot; bring to a boil. Submerge the bratwurst in the beer; add the red pepper flakes, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Reduce heat to medium and cook another 10 to 12 minutes. Remove the bratwurst from the beer mixture; reduce heat to low, and continue cooking the onions.
- Cook the bratwurst on the preheated grill, turning once, 5 to 10 minutes. Serve with the beer mixture as a topping or side.

- Whisk first 4 ingredients until blended. In a large nonstick skillet, brown bratwursts over medium-high heat. Transfer to a 4- or 5-qt. slow cooker. Add onion, chili sauce and root beer mixture., Cook, covered, on low 6-8 hours or until a thermometer inserted in sausage reads at least 160°. Serve in buns. If desired, top with onion and mustard.

SLOW COOKER CREOLE GARLIC SHRIMP
Steps:
- Gather the ingredients.
- In a bowl, combine all of the ingredients and mix until well blended.
- Set aside 1 teaspoon and store the remaining seasoning, covered, in a cool, dark place.
- Gather the ingredients.
- Combine the butter, oil, sliced garlic, Creole seasoning, and the black and cayenne peppers in the crockery insert of a slow cooker.
- Cover and cook on HIGH for 25 to 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, peel the shrimp.
- Run a small, sharp knife down the back of each shrimp. Pull out the dark-colored vein or scrape it out with the tip of the knife.
- Rinse the shrimp under cold running water and pat dry.
- Add the prepared shrimp to the slow cooker and stir to coat them with the oil and butter mixture.
- Cover and cook on HIGH for 20 to 30 minutes, stirring about halfway through the cooking time. The shrimp are done when they are opaque and pink in color.
- Remove them to a serving dish and pour the sauce over them.
- Garnish with fresh chopped parsley, if desired, and serve as an appetizer or main dish.
