  3. brandy
  4. maraschino cherry
  5. amish starter
  6. sliced peaches in juice
  7. pineapple chunks in juice
  8. maraschino cherries
  9. fruit cocktail
  10. yellow cake mix
  11. oil
  12. eggs
  13. fruit
  14. nuts
  15. instant vanilla pudding

Steps:

  1. amish friendship cake initial starter:
  2. day 1-day 14:
  3. 1 cup cubed pineapple , drained
  4. 1 cup sugar
  5. 2 t
  6. brandy
  7. combine in a glass gallon jar
  8. let set it set for 2 weeks
  9. cover loosely with aluminum foil , with a wooden spoon inserted through the foil to stir daily-do not remove foil or spoon !
  10. be sure to stir daily
  11. day 15:
  12. add 1 cup marachino cherries including the juice
  13. 1 cup sugar
  14. 2 t
  15. brandy
  16. let set two more weeks , stirring daily
  17. day 30:
  18. strain the fruit from the juice using a plastic strainer
  19. the resulting "juice" is the "starter" for your amish friendship cake
  20. amish frienship cake secondary starter:
  21. first we prepare another starter from the starter above
  22. 1 1 / 2 cups starter , prepared above
  23. 1 lg
  24. can sliced peaches , with juice
  25. 2 1 / 2 cups sugar
  26. put peaches and juice in a gallon jar
  27. stir once a day for 10 days:
  28. on the 10th day , add:
  29. 2 1 / 2 cups sugar
  30. 1 20 oz
  31. can pineapple chunks and juice
  32. stir every day for 10 days
  33. on the 20th day , add:
  34. 2 1 / 2 cups sugar
  35. 1 10 oz
  36. jar marachino cherries and juice
  37. 1 20 oz
  38. can fruit cocktail and juice
  39. stir every day for 10 days
  40. on the 30th day:
  41. drain liquid from fruit
  42. divide the juice into 5-6 jars each containing 1 1 / 2 cups of juice
  43. give to friends , and keep one for yourself
  44. your friends can now start with the starter you have given them , and make the 30 day cake directly
  45. divide fruit in thirds
  46. you can freeze 2 / 3 of the fruit to use later
  47. when putting fruit or juice in jars , leave jars on the counter & do not refrigerate ! do not put lid on tight , set it on top of jar - loosely ! do not put juice in the refrigerator !

  49. cake 1 yellow cake mix , without pudding in it
  50. 2 / 3 cup oil
  51. 4 eggs
  52. 1 / 3 of the fruit , prepared with the starter above
  53. 1 cup nuts , chopped
  54. 1 box vanilla instant pudding
  55. mix all ingredients together , and bake in a greased bundt pan at 350 , for 50 minutes or until done

  57. do not use a metal strainer when straining the fruit
  58. when adding fruit and juice to the jar , leave it on the counter & do not refrigerate ! do not put lid on tight
  59. set it on top loosely ! do not put juice in the refrigerator !
  60. i frost my cakes with cream cheese frosting and top with walnuts
