Decadent Chocolate Cake With Ganache Recipe

Ingredients:

  1. baking cocoa
  2. boiling water
  3. butter
  4. sugar
  5. eggs
  6. vanilla extract
  7. all-purpose flour
  8. baking soda
  9. baking powder
  10. salt
  11. semisweet chocolate
  12. whipping cream', "confectioners' sugar", 'milk
  13. sliced almonds

Steps:

  1. in a small bowl , combine cocoa and water
  2. set aside
  3. in a large mixing bowl cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy
  4. add eggs , one at a time , beating well after each addition
  5. beat in vanilla
  6. combine the flour , baking soda , baking powder , and salt
  7. add to creamed mixture alternately with cocoa mixture , beating well after each addition
  8. pour into three greased and floured 9" round baking pans
  9. bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes , or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean
  10. cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks to cool completely
  11. for ganache , place chocolate in a small bowl
  12. in a small heavy saucepan over low heat , bring cream and sugar to a boil
  13. pour over chocolate
  14. whisk gently until smooth
  15. refrigerate for 35-45 minutes or until ganache begins to thicken , stirring occasionally
  16. for frosting , in a large mixing bowl beat butter until fluffy
  17. add confectioners sugar , cocoa , milk , and vanilla
  18. beat until smooth
  19. place one cake layer on a serving plate
  20. spread with 1 cup of frosting
  21. top with second layer and one cup ganache and sprinkle with 1 / 2 cup almonds
  22. top with third layer , frost top and sides of cake
  23. warm ganache until pourable
  24. pour over cake , allowing some to drape down the sides
  25. sprinkle with remaining almonds
  26. refrigerate until serving
