  4. red food coloring
  5. applesauce
  6. dutch-processed cocoa powder
  7. buttermilk
  8. cake flour
  9. salt
  10. vanilla
  11. baking soda
  12. vinegar

  2. cream butter , sugar , and eggs until fluffy

  4. make a mixture of cocoa , food coloring , and applesauce

  6. add to creamed mixture
  7. 4
  8. mix flour and salt and add to creamed mixture alternating with buttermilk

  10. add vanilla
  11. 6
  12. add soda to vinegar and gently fold into batter
  13. 7
  14. pour into 2- 9" greased cake pans
  15. 8
  16. bake at 350 for 26-30 minutes
