This is a great recipe for homemade granola. I make it weekly! Any dried fruit can be substituted for the raisins. I use dried cranberries in mine and it's fantastic!

5 cups old-fashioned oats
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup flaked coconut
1 cup wheat germ
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
½ cup water
½ cup vegetable oil
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
½ cup raisins
½ cup sliced almonds

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  • Mix oats, brown sugar, coconut, wheat germ, cinnamon, and nutmeg together in a large bowl. Stir water, oil, and vanilla extract into the oat mixture; spread onto a baking sheet.
  • Bake in preheated oven, stirring every 15 minutes, until golden brown and crunchy, about 1 hour; transfer to a bowl. Stir raisins and almonds through the granola.

¼ cup packed brown sugar
3 tablespoons maple syrup
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
½ teaspoon salt
1 ½ cups rolled oats
½ cup chopped almonds
½ cup raw pumpkin seeds
⅓ cup shredded coconut
½ cup dried currants

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with a silicone liner.
  • Combine brown sugar, maple syrup, oil, and salt in a bowl. Add oats, almonds, pumpkin seeds, and coconut. Mix well, making sure all ingredients are coated evenly.
  • Pour onto prepared baking sheet and distribute in an even layer.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, stirring every 10 to 15 minutes lightly with the tines of a fork so mixture toasts evenly and granola is golden brown.
  • Pour into a bowl and, while mixture is still hot, mix in currants. Cool. Store in an airtight container until ready to use.

After searching for a healthier granola recipe, I tweaked a few to lessen the sugar. I use seeds instead of nuts due to allergies. Still very crunchy, delicious, and satisfying! Change the dried fruit to fit your tastes (blueberries, cherries, cranberries, apricots, etc.).

½ cup hulled sunflower seeds
⅓ cup hulled pumpkin seeds
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
2 tablespoons flax seeds
1 tablespoon wheat germ
1 cup chopped dried cherries
½ teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
⅔ cup unsweetened applesauce
⅓ cup pure maple syrup
1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  • Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Combine oatmeal, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, flax seeds, wheat germ, chopped dried cherries, salt, and cinnamon in a large bowl.
  • Mix applesauce, maple syrup, and vanilla in a separate bowl.
  • Pour applesauce mixture over the oatmeal mixture; mix until evenly coated.
  • Spread the mixture onto the prepared baking sheets; smooth into a single thin layer.
  • Bake in preheated oven 20 minutes, stir gently to turn, and continue cooking until crisp and golden brown, another 15 to 20 minutes.

2 cups rolled oats
2 cups quick-cooking oats
¼ cup chopped pecans
¼ cup chopped walnuts
¼ cup chopped almonds
¼ cup pepitas
½ cup maple syrup
¼ cup coconut oil, melted
¼ cup chopped crystallized ginger
2 teaspoons ground turmeric
1 ½ teaspoons ground ginger, or to taste
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
¾ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground cardamom
⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  • Mix rolled and quick-cooking oats, pecans, walnuts, almonds, and pepitas together and spread out on a sheet pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and transfer to a large mixing bowl. Reduce oven temperature to 225 degrees F (110 degrees C).
  • Mix maple syrup, coconut oil, crystallized ginger, turmeric, ground ginger, cinnamon, salt, cardamom, and pepper together in a smaller bowl and pour over the oats and nuts. Mix thoroughly, then pour mixture back onto the baking sheet.
  • Bake in the oven for 30 minutes. Turn oven off and leave granola in for 1 hour.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool to room temperature, about 30 minutes.

1/2 cup pecan halves
1/2 cup unsalted sunflower seeds
1 cup ground flax seeds
1 -2 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup honey
1/2 cup canola oil
1/4 cup natural-style peanut butter

Steps:

  • Stir Oats, Coconut, Pecans, Sunflower seeds and flax seed in a big bowl.
  • In the microwave on 50% power, heat the remaining ingredients in a pyrex bowl until liquid (about 3 minutes).
  • Pour the liquid mixture into the dry ingredients and stir so that it is well mixed.
  • Cover a jelly roll pan with tin foil, pour mixture onto the pan.
  • Preheat oven to 250 degrees --
  • Bake for 30 minutes, taking it out every 10 minutes to stir around.
  • Let cool!
  • Enjoy with yogurt, milk, fruit, icecream -- anything!

3 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup pumpkin seeds
1/2 cup sweetened flaked coconut
1/4 cup walnuts, chopped
1/4 cup slivered almonds
1/2 teaspoon fleur de sel
3/4 cup maple syrup
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup coconut oil
1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup raisins, dried
1/4 cup cranberries, dried
1/4 cup blueberries, dried

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 300ºF and line two large baking sheets with foil. In a large bowl, combine oats, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, coconut flakes, walnuts, almonds and salt; set aside.
  • In a large pot over medium heat, add oil, brown sugar and syrup. Stir well and cook for 3 to 4 minutes until hot but not boiling. Pour over dry ingredients and stir, using a spatula, until well coated.
  • Divide mixture onto prepared baking sheets and spread evenly. Transfer to the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, stirring often (mix from the outside in).
  • Remove from heat, cool off a little and transfer to a large bowl. Add dried fruit and mix well. Cool completely before transferring into an airtight container. Makes 8 ½ cups.

50 ounces old fashioned oats (Carton + 2cups)
1 1/3 cups nonfat dry milk powder
1 1/3 cups wheat germ
2 cups pecan pieces
2 cups raisins
1 1/3 cups canola oil
1 1/3 cups honey
1/2 cup water

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325.
  • Combine all dry ingredients together in a large roasting pan. Stir well to combine.
  • Add oil, honey and water to dry ingedients and stir until all ingredients are well coated.
  • Bake at 325 for 1 hour stirring every 20 minutes.
  • After 1 hour, turn off oven and continue to stir every 20 minutes until granola is golden brown.
  • Cool completely and store in airtight container.
