ASIAN STYLE SLAW
I always like to have a few salads at my BBQ to balance out the heavier stuff. Cole slaw is one of the classics, and I love it, but I like to make it my own by mixing in a few Asian flavors. I use the pre-shredded coleslaw mix that comes in bags at the supermarket or for red and green shredded cabbage packaged separately. And then I dress it up with some other fresh ingredients to make an outstanding and different kind of slaw.

Steps:
- Rough up the scallion slices a little with your fingers so all the little layers of the scallion whites separate. Toss the coleslaw mix or both kinds of cabbage, the red onion and scallions together in a large bowl until everything is thoroughly mixed. You can make the slaw up to this point up to a day in advance as long as you keep it refrigerated. Before serving, simply bring the slaw back to room temperature, make the dressing and toss.
- Stir the remaining ingredients together in a small bowl until blended, then pour over the vegetables. Serve within 1 hour of dressing or the cabbage will get wilty and sad.

Steps:
- Toast sesame seeds and almonds in oven, (use separate pans, they don't take the same amount of time to toast) I actually put the broiler on and put the pans on the bottom shelf to broil.
- It only takes a few minutes.
- Take the packet of seasoning that comes in the Ramen Noodle and mix it with the oil and vinegar (shake to mix well) Pour cabbage in bowl, chop green onion, add toasted almonds and seeds, pour dressing over cabbage then crumble raw noodles into salad.
- P.S. Don't put noodles or dressing until your ready to serve; they will become soggy if you pre mix them.
- Enjoy!

- Rub salad bowl and the inside of the lid with all of the garlic cloves(save garlic). Cover bowl and let stand in the refrigerator as long as possible, overnight is best. Shred all of the vegetables as small as possible and chop up left over garlic.
- Combine all of the sauce ingredients together and stir until the vegetables are creamy with the sauce. Place vegetables in the garlic marinated bowl and stir well. Cover and let stand in the refrigerator until cool. This gets better as the salad marinates together. This salad will keep good in the fridge for 5 - 6 days and can be frozen for later use.
