Adds a simple, sweet touch to hot pancakes, cooked grains, scones or... I suspect anything else! This basic idea can be endlessly varied, of course.

1 banana
6 dates
1/4-1/3 cup apple juice
cinnamon, to taste (optional)

Steps:

  • Combine the banana, dates and juice in a blender, and puree until very smooth.
  • Add more juice if you want it thinner.
  • Sprinkle in a bit of cinnamon if you like.
  • Serve immediately.
  • This gets sweeter if you store it very long in the refrigerator but it TASTES BEST fresh.

This easy date syrup recipe is the key to creating plant-based sweets rich in fiber, vitamins and minerals. This whole food plant-based sweetener is used in healthy baking and cooking. Drizzle over oatmeal, pancakes or waffles. Stir into hearty sauces, your morning coffee or tea as a replacement for table sugar, maple syrup and agave syrup (or other sweeteners). 1 cup of medjool dates, pitted
1 cup of hot water
¼ lemon, pitted and peeled

Steps:

  • In a bowl combine dates and hot water. Cover and let sit for 1 to 4 hours.
  • Combine dates, with water and lemon in a food processor. Blend until smooth.
  • Add to a glass or air tight container and store in fridge. The syrup will thicken more over night.
