Easy Cheesy Zucchini Gratin Recipe

  1. unsalted butter
  2. yellow onions
  3. garlic cloves
  4. zucchini
  5. kosher salt
  6. fresh ground black pepper
  7. ground nutmeg
  8. all-purpose flour
  9. milk
  10. panko breadcrumbs
  11. gruyere cheese


  1. preheat the oven to 400 degrees f
  2. melt butter in a 12-inch saute pan and cook the onions over low heat for about 20 minutes , or until tender but not browned
  3. if using garlic , add the last 10 minutes of cooking
  4. add the zucchini and cook , covered , for 10 minutes , or until just tender
  5. add the salt , pepper , and nutmeg and cook uncovered for 5 more minutes
  6. stir in the flour
  7. add the hot milk and cook over low heat for a few more minutes , until it makes a sauce
  8. pour the mixture into an 8"x10" baking dish
  9. combine the bread crumbs and cheese and sprinkle on top of the zucchini mixture
  10. dot with 1 tablespoon of the extra butter cut into small bits
  11. bake for 20 minutes , or until bubbly and browned
  12. enjoy !
