1/2 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
FILLING:
2 eggs
1-1/2 cups packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1-1/2 cups chopped walnuts
LEMON GLAZE:
1-1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
2 to 3 tablespoons lemon juice

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Combine flour and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. , Press onto the bottom of a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking pan. Bake at 350° for 20 minutes or until edges are lightly browned., For filling, in a small bowl, combine the eggs, brown sugar, flour, vanilla, salt and baking powder. Stir in walnuts. Spread over crust. , Bake for 25 minutes or until filling is golden brown. Cool on a wire rack., Combine confectioners' sugar and enough lemon juice to achieve desired consistency; spread over filling. Let stand until set before cutting.

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter (cold and cut into 8 slices)
1 cup brown sugar (packed)
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup walnuts (chopped)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line or grease an 8x8 pan.
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, powdered sugar, and salt.
  • Mix in butter using a pastry cutter or 2 knives. Mixture should crumbly forming small pea sized clumps of dough.
  • Press shortbread into pan evenly, and bake for 10-15 minutes or until the edges are beginning to brown. Remove from oven and set aside to cool slightly.
  • While crust is cooling, make the filling. Whisk brown sugar, egg, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt and mix until smooth.
  • Stir in chopped walnuts.
  • Pour into pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25 minutes, until the surface looks dry and the filling has set and risen slightly. Cool completely, then cut into small squares.

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup chopped walnuts
⅔ cup butter
⅔ cup brown sugar
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
½ cup white sugar
2 eggs
¼ cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons lemon juice

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Mix flour, walnuts, butter, and brown sugar together in a bowl. Line a 9x13-inch baking pan with half the crust mixture.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until browned, about 15 minutes. Remove crust and leave oven on.
  • Mix cream cheese and white sugar together in another bowl using an electric mixer until blended. Add eggs, milk, and vanilla extract; mix until blended. Pour on top of the baked crust. Sprinkle with remaining crust mixture.
  • Bake in the hot oven until set, about 25 minutes.

2 eggs
2 cups packed brown sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
½ cup white sugar
1 cup butter, softened
2 eggs
1 cup packed brown sugar
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup chopped walnuts
½ cup flaked coconut
1 (4 ounce) jar maraschino cherries
1 teaspoon butter
1 cup confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).
  • Mix together flour, white sugar and butter or margarine. Mix until crumbly. Press into a 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake for 20 minutes or until lightly browned.
  • Beat eggs, sugar, salt, baking powder, and vanilla. Drain and chop cherries, reserving liquid. Stir chopped cherries, nuts, and coconut into egg mixture. Pour on top of crust.
  • Bake 25 min. Cool.
  • Combine 1 teaspoon butter and 1 cup confectioner's sugar with enough liquid from cherries until spreadable. Frost bars. Sprinkle with coconut when icing is set.
