We love gravy and this was a easy and simplistic way to get both a meatloaf meal with gravy for our potatoes.

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 (10 3/4 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup (or more)
1 lb ground beef
1/2 cup fine plain breadcrumbs
1 small finely minced onion
1 beaten egg
1/2 cup water

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Mix 1/2 can of soup with ground meat, egg, bread crumbs and onion.
  • Shape into loaf, place into Pam sprayed pan to prevent sticking.
  • Bake for 1 to 1 and 1/2 hours until done.
  • Gravy: Drippings from meat into sauce pan (be sure to scrape all the bits from bottom of pan) with remaining soup and water (here is where you would add that extra can of soup to make even more gravy).
  • Use bouillon if needed.
  • Salt and pepper to taste.
  • Stir over medium heat to boiling point. Remove from heat and serve with meat.

2 cups lightly packed fresh breadcrumbs*
3/4 cup whole milk
1 pound ground beef (preferably 85% lean/15% fat)
1 pound ground pork
1/4 medium white onion, finely chopped (about 1/2 cup)
3 cloves garlic, finely minced
2 large eggs
1/3 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/4 medium white onion, finely chopped (about 1/2 cup)
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 1/4 cups beef or chicken stock
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon salt, divided
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and set aside.
  • Transfer breadcrumbs to a small bowl and stir in the milk. Set aside for about 5 minutes.
  • In a separate large bowl, combine the beef, pork, onion, garlic, egg, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper with your hands.
  • Add the breadcrumb mixture and mix until thoroughly incorporated.
  • Place the meat mixture on the prepared baking sheet and form into a tight loaf with your hands, about 9 inches long and 5 inches wide.
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a meat thermometer registers 155°F.
  • Let rest for 15 minutes before cutting into slices and serving with the gravy.
  • While the meatloaf is resting, make the gravy by melting the butter in a medium sauce pot over medium heat.
  • Add the diced onions and 1/4 teaspoon salt, and saute until slightly golden, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Sprinkle the flour over the onions and stir well to evenly coat. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, for about 2 minutes.
  • Add the stock and whisk until thoroughly combined. Cook for another 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  • Reduce the heat to low and stir in the cream. Cook for another 2 to 5 minutes to slightly thicken the mixture.
  • Season with the remaining salt and black pepper, and serve with the meatloaf.

1/2 cup soft bread crumbs *

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup onion (finely chopped)
1/4 teaspoon dried leaf thyme (crumbled)
1 (12-ounce) jar prepared brown gravy or two envelopes (.87 ounce each) of dry gravy mix

Steps:

  • About 15 minutes before the meatloaf is done baking, heat the jar or can of gravy in a saucepan or prepare gravy following the instructions on the packets of dry gravy mix.
  • Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

1 ½ pounds ground beef
¾ cup fresh bread crumbs
½ cup chili sauce
1 egg
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 cup fresh sliced mushrooms
2 tablespoons minced onion
1 tablespoon butter
1 cup beef broth
2 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon cornstarch

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, chili sauce, egg, salt, and freshly ground black pepper; mix well. Shape into an 8x4 inch loaf pan.
  • Place loaf pan on a rack in an oven-roasting pan. Bake for 1 hour, or until done. Cook until internal temperature measures 160 degrees F (70 degrees C); the meat should be well done, with no trace of pink. Remove from oven, and allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
  • While the meatloaf is resting, prepare the gravy. In a medium saucepan, melt butter or margarine over medium heat. Add mushrooms and onions; cook and stir until tender. Add beef broth; simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Combine water and cornstarch in a small cup; stir into broth. Cook and stir for 1 minute, or until thickened.

1 ½ pounds ground beef
1 egg
1 onion, chopped
1 cup milk
1 cup dried bread crumbs

2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons prepared mustard
⅓ cup ketchup

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

2 lbs lean ground beef
1 clove minced garlic
1 packet dry golden onion soup mix
1 can cream of mushroom soup

Steps:

  • Mix beef, garlic and dry soup mix thoroughly.
  • Shape into a loaf and place on sheet of heavy duty aluminum foil that has been sprayed with Pam to prevent sticking.
  • Spread the mushroom soup over the top.
  • Fold foil loosely over the loaf from the sides and then the ends, sealing the openings tightly.
  • Place in a jelly roll pan in case the foil leaks.
  • Bake at 350° for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
  • Be careful opening it since the steam is very hot.
