Number Of Ingredients 11

1 package (8 ounces) reduced-fat cream cheese
1 package (8 ounces) fat-free cream cheese
1 cup shredded reduced-fat Colby-Monterey Jack cheese
1/2 cup mango chutney
2 green onions, finely chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts
2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley
Crackers, bread cubes and apples slices

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine the first eight ingredients. Shape into a ball and roll in walnuts. Press parsley into ball; cover and chill until serving. Serve with crackers, bread cubes and apple slices.

1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 jar (9 ounces) chutney
1 pound bacon strips, chopped
6 green onions, finely chopped
Assorted crackers

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine cheeses. Shape into a ball; top with chutney. Cover and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight., In a large skillet, cook bacon over medium heat until crisp. Remove to paper towels; drain. Sprinkle bacon and onions over cheese ball. Serve with crackers.

Make all 3 flavors of cheese balls or prepare just 1 or 2, adjusting the ingredients accordingly.

Number Of Ingredients 20

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
3 packages cream cheese (8 ounces each)
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
5 dashes hot sauce (such as Tabasco)
1/2 teaspoon coarse salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground white pepper
8 ounces sharp orange cheddar cheese, finely shredded
2 tablespoons store-bought chutney
3/4 cup dried cranberries, finely chopped
Water crackers, for serving
6 ounces Roquefort cheese
1 shallot, minced (about 1 tablespoon)
2 teaspoons brandy (optional)
1 cup toasted walnuts, coarsely chopped
Vegetable chips (such as Terra Chips Sweets & Beets), for serving
8 ounces goat cheese
2 tablespoons finely chopped scallions
1/3 cup fresh curly-leaf parsley, finely chopped
1 English cucumber, cut into 1/8-inch-thick slices, for serving

Steps:

  • Put butter, cream cheese, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, salt, and pepper into the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment; mix on medium speed until combined. Divide equally among 3 medium bowls.
  • Stir cheddar cheese and chutney with base mixture in the first bowl. Form into a ball. Roll cheese ball in cranberries to coat before serving. Serve with crackers.
  • Stir blue cheese and shallot with base mixture in second bowl; add brandy, if desired. Form into a ball. Roll in walnuts to coat before serving. Serve with chips.
  • Stir goat cheese and scallions with base mixture in remaining bowl. Form into a ball. Roll in parsley to coat before serving. Serve with cucumber slices.

I went to a party where this was served and loved it. I couldn't get the recipe so I decided to experiment until I figured it out. This is the result. It's been very popular at parties I've taken it to. Prep time includes chilling time.

1 lb cream cheese, at room temperature
2 tablespoons curry powder
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
2 tablespoons dried currants
2 tablespoons chopped walnuts
1 (10 ounce) jar chutnut chutney

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients except chutney and mix thoroughly.
  • Form into a ball; wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate until firm.
  • Just before serving remove from refrigerator and place on a serving platter.
  • Pour chutney over ball and spread with a spatula to coat evenly.
  • Serve with crackers.

4 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
2 tablespoons dry sherry
1 teaspoon curry powder
1 (12 ounce) jar mango chutney

Steps:

  • Mix together with an electric mixer the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, sherry, and curry powder.
  • Refrigerate until it has firmed up- about 2-3 hours.
  • Shape into a ball and place on serving plate.
  • This may be made ahead and kept refrigerated.
  • When ready to serve, pour some of the mango chutney over the cheese ball and serve.

1 (2.1 ounce) package cooked bacon, diced
1 bunch green onions, chopped
3 tablespoons sour cream
1 (9 ounce) jar mango chutney

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, stir together the cream cheese, raisins, bacon, green onions and sour cream. Form into a ball, and wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours or overnight before serving.
  • To serve, place the cheese ball on a serving tray, and pour the mango chutney over it. Surround with crackers for dipping.
