GRILLED CABBAGE WEDGES

Grilled Cabbage Wedges image

Cabbage wedges with chargrilled marks can be used as a side dish or incorporated into other dishes. I use this along my grilled teriyaki chicken kabobs, serving it all over basmati rice. The semi-carbon taste of the chargrilled marks enhance the flavor. Don't be afraid of a little brown/black color of charring it. It's good! Trust me.

FOIL BAKED CABBAGE RECIPE - (3.9/5)

Foil Baked Cabbage Recipe - (3.9/5) image

Provided by Renna

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 head cabbage
8 tablespoons butter, divided into tablespoons
2 cloves garlic
4 teaspoons salt
Pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • Oven to 425ºF. Start with a whole head of cabbage and remove a couple of the outer layers. Rinse the head as best you can. Then cut off the stem part of the cabbage and quarter the cabbage. Tear off 4 pieces of foil that are long enough to cover and seal in each wedge of cabbage completely. Place each wedge on its own piece of foil and create a pouch. Place 1 to 2 tablespoons of salted butter or butter substitute in each pouch. Mince 2 cloves of garlic, more if you like it more garlicky) and put about a half a clove in each pouch. If you are using pre-minced garlic, I would say about 1 to 2 teaspoons in each pouch. Salt and pepper the cabbage, then roll the foil pouches tightly closed. I place an extra layer around the other way to ensure it was creating an adequate steaming pocket. Place on a baking sheet and leave in the oven for approximately 1 hour or until cabbage is nice and tender. Remove from oven, add additional salt or pepper to taste and enjoy.

ROASTED CABBAGE WEDGES

Roasted Cabbage Wedges image

Great on Grill or Oven Roasted

Provided by Debbie Gurley

Categories     Vegetables

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 tsp olive oil, extra virgin
3 Tbsp real bacon bits
2 Tbsp lemon juice
2 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp kosher salt
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
1 medium head of cabbage

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat the oven (or the grill) to 425 degrees.
  • 2. Mix the olive oil, bacon bits, lemon juice, worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper to make the marinade.
  • 3. Prepare the cabbage. Rinse it under water and remove any yucky loose leaves.
  • 4. Cut the head in half on the core.. Then cut the halves in half again...to make quarters.
  • 5. Lay each wedge on a sheet of aluminum foil large enough to wrap it up in. Spoon about 2 tbsp of the marinade on top making sure to get it in all the nooks and crannies.
  • 6. Wrap each wedge and bake or Grill for 20-30 minutes. I say 20-30 becuase they will continue to cook once you pull them out and I like mine still crunchy. So I let them sit for a little while pull them out around the 20 minute mark. However, some in the comments have cooked them up to an hour for softer cabbage.
  • 7. The wedges reheat wonderfully in the oven or the microwave!
