Cheese 'n Ham Spirals image

Swirls of a delicious cheese and ham mixture run through small circles of pastry. Your guests will never know how easy they are to make!

1 egg
1 Tbsp. water
1 sheet frozen puff pastry (1/2 of 17-1/4-oz. pkg.), thawed
1/4 cup KRAFT Grated Parmesan Cheese, divided
1/4 tsp. ground red pepper (cayenne)
8 slices OSCAR MAYER Deli Fresh Smoked Ham

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400°F.
  • Beat egg and water until blended. Unfold pastry on lightly floured surface. Roll into 14x10-inch rectangle; cut lengthwise in half. Brush both pastry halves lightly with egg. Sprinkle 1 pastry piece with 3 Tbsp. cheese and pepper; cover with ham and remaining pastry piece, egg side down. Roll gently with rolling pin to seal. Brush lightly with some of the remaining egg.
  • Roll up tightly into 14-inch log, starting at 1 long side; cut crosswise into 24 slices. Place, cut sides down, on parchment-covered baking sheet. Brush with remaining egg; sprinkle with remaining cheese.
  • Bake 12 to 14 min. or until golden brown.

1 (12 count) package Hawaiian sweet rolls
1 (6 ounce) package thinly sliced deli ham
¾ pound shredded Swiss cheese
½ cup unsalted butter
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon poppy seeds
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons dried minced onion
¼ teaspoon salt, or to taste
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a 9-inch square baking pan with aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray.
  • Slice attached rolls in half widthwise with a serrated knife, keeping rolls connected, into a bottom and top 'slab.' Place bottom slab in the prepared pan.
  • Layer about half the ham evenly over the bottom slab of rolls. Layer Swiss cheese evenly on top, and arrange remaining ham over the cheese. Cover with the top slab.
  • Place butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in the microwave until melted, about 1 minute. Add mustard, poppy seeds, Worcestershire sauce, onion, salt, and pepper. Whisk to combine.
  • Pour butter mixture evenly and slowly over the rolls. Spread over the tops using a spatula; some of the mixture will pool at the base of the rolls. Cover with aluminum foil and let stand at room temperature for 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until cheese has melted, about 20 minutes. Uncover and continue baking until browned as desired, 3 to 5 minutes more. Slice into individual sliders.

1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated, divided
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
8 slices smoked turkey ham, sliced thin

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400°F Beat egg and 1 Tbsp water with wire whisk until blended. Set aside. Unfold pastry on lightly floured surface. Roll into 14" x 10" rectangle; cut in half lengthwise. Brush both pastry halves lightly with egg mixture.
  • Sprinkle 3 Tbsp of the cheese and the pepper evenly over 1 of the pastry pieces; cover with ham slices. Place remaining pastry piece, egg side down, over ham. Brush with additional egg mixture. Roll gently with rolling pin to seal.
  • Roll in jelly-roll fashion to make a 14" log. Cut into 24 equal slices. Place, cut side down, on parchment-covered baking sheet. Brush with remaining egg mixture; sprinkle with remaining 1 Tbsp of cheese.
  • Bake 12 - 14 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm or at room temperature.

3 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon crushed garlic
2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
Flour, for work surface
1 pound refrigerated pizza dough, at room temperature
1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar
1/2 pound deli sliced ham
1 large egg
2 tablespoons water

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, garlic, and Italian seasoning.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a 12-inch square. Brush the entire surface with the seasoned olive oil. Top with 1 cup of shredded cheese and an even layer of ham. (Reserve the extra cheese and ham for Round 2 Ham and Cheese Croquettes.)
  • Starting from the bottom edge, tightly roll up the dough to form a log. Using a sharp serrated knife, slice the roll on the bias into 1-inch thick pieces. Arrange the rolls on their side on a nonstick or lightly oiled baking sheet. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and allow to sit at room temperature for 30 minutes to proof.
  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the egg with 2 tablespoons of water. Brush the tops and sides of the rolls with the egg wash. Bake until golden brown, about 30 to 35 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven, transfer to a serving platter and serve.

Nonstick cooking spray
3 tablespoons canola oil
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups milk, warmed
3 large eggs, separated, plus reserved egg whites from Eggs Benedict recipe
1 1/2 cups grated Cheddar
1/3 pound deli ham, diced
1 tablespoon spicy brown mustard
1/2 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Spray 4 (7-ounce) souffle dishes with nonstick spray.
  • Heat the canola oil over medium-high heat in a medium saucepan. Add the flour whisking constantly for about 3 minutes, do not brown. Whisk in the warm milk until thickened, about 3 more minutes. Turn off heat and let cool slightly. Whisk in the egg yolks, then the cheese, ham (reserve 1/3 cup of the ham for the Round 2 recipe Savory Bread Pudding) and mustard. Let sit and cool slightly while beating the egg whites.
  • In another bowl with an electric mixer, beat the egg whites until soft peaks. Stir 1/4 of the whites into the ham and cheese base mixture to lighten, then fold in the rest of the whites. Fill each ramekin 3/4 of the way (reserve remaining souffle batter for the Round 2 recipe Savory Bread Pudding). Bake until puffed up and lightly browned on top. 15 to 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and serve.

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour, for dusting
4 sheets puff pastry, thawed if frozen
1 large egg, beaten
16 slices swiss cheese
7 slices ham

Steps:

  • Lightly flour a clean work surface. Flour a rolling pin and roll out each puff pastry sheet to flatten the seams. Lay the sheets 2 by 2.
  • Make a diagonal cut across the 2 bottom sheets of puff pastry from the lower right corner to the midpoint on the left side of the lower left sheet.
  • Make another diagonal cut across the 2 top sheets of puff pastry from the upper right corner to the midpoint on the left side of the upper left sheet.
  • Holding the bottom pieces together, rotate clockwise 180˚ and up, so that the left side of the bottom strip meets the left side of the lower middle strip.
  • Holding the top pieces together, rotate counterclockwise 180˚ and down, so that the left side of the top strip meets the left side of the up middle strip.
  • Seal the seams by brushing a bit of egg wash where the pieces of pastry meet, overlapping the pieces slightly, and pressing together.
  • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Arrange the cheese slices in a single layer across the lower portion of the triangle. Top with a single layer of ham slices.
  • Roll up the puff pastry from the base of the triangle to the top point.
  • Place the croissant on the prepared baking sheet and cover with aluminum foil.
  • Bake for 45 minutes.
  • Remove the croissant from the oven, take off the foil, and brush the croissant with egg wash.
  • Bake for another 1 hour and 15 minutes, until the croissant is golden brown.
  • Let cool for 20 minutes, then slice and serve.
