HARVEST PUMPKIN BALLS DOG TREATS

Harvest Pumpkin Balls Dog Treats image

Fall is the time to stock up on canned pure pumpkin which is an amazing ingredient for dogs. Constipated? A little pumpkin can help. Runny stools? A little pumpkin can help. Upset tummy or trying to transition to a new food? Again, a little pumpkin can help! This recipe is not only tasty but chock full of incredibly healthy pumpkin. Only use fresh pumpkin or canned pumpkin, never pumpkin pie mix which has sugar and other harmful ingredients.

Provided by The Canine Chef Coo

Categories     Pumpkin

Time 50m

Yield 88 small balls

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 cups oat flour
1 egg
1 cup pumpkin puree
2 tablespoons honey
2 teaspoons ground flax seeds
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon sea salt

Steps:

  • Thoroughly mix together all ingredients in medium size bowl.
  • Shape into balls and place on lined baking sheet. This dough is very sticky so I let the mixture chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes for easier handling. Then I scoop out balls with my silicone melon scooper and let them chill for about 10 minutes. Then I cut those balls in half with a sharp knife and roll into small balls.
  • If you don't want to spend the time forming the balls, use a spatula to smooth out the mixture on the lined baking sheet. When halfway baked, score with a pizza cutter. Watch your cooking time as the thinner they are the faster they will bake.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool.
  • Note: To make them really crispy turn off the oven and leave the treats in for another 20 minutes. These treats have a crispy outside with a soft, moist center which means they will mold like any baked good. Keep refrigerated up to a week or freeze up to three months.

PUMPKIN DOG TREATS

Pumpkin Dog Treats image

Make and share this Pumpkin Dog Treats recipe from Food.com.

Provided by vdfhall

Categories     Fruit

Time 55m

Yield 20 treats, 20 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 eggs
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
2 tablespoons dry milk
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
2 1/2 cups brown rice flour

Steps:

  • Start by measuring the pumpkin into a mixing bowl, and crack two eggs, mixing them together until the mixture is smooth. Add in the salt and the milk, and then carefully mix in the rice flour a little bit at a time. It clumps together fairly quickly, so you'll need to use your fingers to knead it all together. Everything should look really dry, but knead all the lumps out until it becomes smooth. Roll out the dough and, using your dog's favorite cookie cutter (in our case, a bone shaped design we found at Joann Fabrics), cut the shapes until there is no more dough left. Place each shape onto a greased cookie sheet. If you want, you can make additional designs on them with a fork. Place them in your oven: preheated to 350°F After 20 minutes, take them out to flip them over, then place them back in for another 20 minutes, or until they are a nice shade of golden brown.
