Homemade Wine Slush Mix image

Wine slush mix is a fun - but expensive - gifty thing sold at trade shows... but it's affordable and easy to make at home - here's how!

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 2/3 - 1 3/4 Cups Granulated Sugar ((Less for if using a sweeter wine, more for a dry wine))
1 1/2 tsp Citric Acid
1/4 tsp Matcha (Green Tea) Powder (Optional)

Steps:

  • Measure all ingredients into a food processor. Run the food processor for a minute or two, to finely process the sugar and evenly distribute the ingredients.
  • Pour powdered mix into a baggie or airtight container until ready to use.

Another great way to enjoy a glass of red wine. I had this once at a state fair and was hooked. So yummy on a hot summer day!

1 cup ice, or as needed
½ (750 milliliter) bottle red wine (such as Red Cat®)
1 (12 fluid ounce) can frozen concentrated fruit punch
¼ cup confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • Place ice in a blender; add red wine, fruit punch, and confectioners' sugar. Blend mixture until ice is evenly chopped and mixture is slushie-consistency, adding more ice if desired.

Mix this up in the morning before you leave for work. When you get home in the evening, take it from the freezer and let it thaw slightly while you change clothes or start dinner. Especially refreshing on hot summer evenings.

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 (8 ounce) can crushed pineapple
2 1/2 cups dry red wine
1 1/2 cups orange juice
1/2 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup sugar
lemon, rind of, for garnish if desired

Steps:

  • Several hours before serving: Blend pineapple, red wine, orange juice, lemon juice and sugar in a blender at high speed for about 20 to 30 seconds.
  • Be sure all sugar is dissolved.
  • Pour mixture into a 9 X 9 inch baking pan or something similar.
  • FREEZE mixture in the freezer.
  • When ready to serve, take pan from freezer and let stand at room temp until softened.
  • Stir with a spoon until semi-thawed then spoon into wine glasses.
  • Garnish with lemon peel, if desired.
