UNCLE BILL'S HOT RUM TODDY
I have been making this Rum Toddy for many years. This is good on cold days, a cold or a sore throat. I am not suggesting it is a cure, but it is tasty.

HOT BUTTERED RUM
There are many ways to make this classic winter drink. Using brown sugar is traditional, but maple syrup is awfully nice, too. Stirring in the butter with a cinnamon stick while you slowly sip the drink makes for a cozy ritual, but if the sight of a floating lump of butter disturbs you, add the butter earlier in the process, with the sugar-it'll melt faster. You can also make the drink sweeter (add more sugar) or spicier (substitute spiced rum for dark rum), or both, to your taste.

HOT BUTTERED RUM
This warm and toasty cocktail might stir up memories of cozy winter nights gone by-when the smell of fresh-baked gingerbread filled the air and the twinkling tree lit up the room. And really, it's no wonder why, hot buttered rum is practically Christmas in a cup! With the combination of butter, brown sugar, whipping cream, powdered sugar, cinnamon and cloves-it's as decadent as any holiday dessert. But much simpler, even if it does call for making a batter, which incidentally is the key to this rich and creamy recipe. With a well-seasoned batter mixed up, all that's left is pouring it into your prettiest serving glasses or mugs and mixing in a bit of boiling water. For an impressive finish, top each glass with a grate of fresh nutmeg. Oh, did we mention, this recipe yields 24 serving and can be prepped ahead? That makes it the perfect party drink, don't you think?

- Add all ingredients to a large slow cooker EXCEPT the rum, whipping cream and nutmeg (those will be added individually to serving mugs). Cook on LOW for 5 ½ hours (may be kept warm in the slow cooker after completing the initial cooking).
- Strain the mixture through a fine sieve to remove loose spices and any butter solids; return liquid to the slow cooker to keep warm.
- To serve: Pour rum (or rum extract) to suit into individual mugs. Top with whipping cream and freshly grated nutmeg. Note: the sweet spiced buttery mixture from the slow cooker is wonderful on it's own too; for those who prefer it without the rum flavor and alcohol, it can be consumed as is.
THE 5 BEST OPTIONS FOR A COFFEE DRINK WITH RUM-FULL COFFEE ...
From fullcoffeeroast.com
- Hot Buttered Rum Coffee. As far as cocktail recipes go, hot buttered rum is pretty simple (and historic). However, I've had it before, and it's not quite as tasty as you might imagine.
- Long Island Iced Coffee. When I'm imbibing, I like two drinks above all: a long island iced tea and a rum and coke. Since a rum and coke is too simple, I've decided to turn my second favorite cocktail into a coffee drink.
- Nutty African. If you like to get a little more exotic with your coffee drinks, this beverage will tickle your fancy. The reason it's called a Nutty African is that it uses Amarula Cream, which hails from South Africa.
- Drunken Pumpkin Spice Latte. These days, pumpkin spice is in everything, from coffee to donuts to other sweet treats. So, why not add it to a coffee cocktail?
- Warm Winter Espresso. Although this coffee recipe has winter in the name, feel free to drink it any time of year. This is one of the best hot coffee with rum options available, and it will both relax your body and keep you awake.
11 EASY, CHEAP RUM DRINKS THAT MIX UP IN MINUTES
From thespruceeats.com
- El Presidente. A quick and easy tropical cocktail, El Presidente is the perfect option when you don't have the time for complex tiki drinks. It has a delicate sweetness and looks quite fancy, despite its simplicity.
- Nevada Cocktail. You will need just five ingredients to mix up the Nevada cocktail. However, a bottle of bitters should be in your bar and sugar in the kitchen, so those really don't count.
- Lounge Lizard. The rum and Coke is one of the easiest rum mixed drinks and it remains a favorite. When you're ready to mix up your routine, think about adding lime for a Cuba libre or go the sultry, smooth route with a lounge lizard.
- Bishop Cocktail. Do you have a red wine that needs a little doctoring up? The classic bishop cocktail is the perfect recipe that can fix any sub-par vino.
- Cafe Caribbean. When you want to liven up the average cup of coffee, the Cafe Caribbean is an excellent way to go. It's a perfectly simple coffee cocktail that is sure to please.
- Easy Rum Eggnog. When it comes to classic rum cocktails, none hold a candle to eggnog. Widely thought to have originated in medieval England, the drink became especially popular in America.
- Grand Rum Toddy. Rum is a perfect base for the popular hot toddy, adding both the booze and the sweetness that the drink needs. It's warm and comforting, just what you want on a cold winter day.
- Dulce de Leche. Rum can also be used to create delicious dessert-worthy cocktails. Within this category, the dulce de leche is one of the easiest recipes around.
- Belladonna. When you want a tall, refreshing, and fruity rum drink, turn to the belladonna. It's incredibly easy to mix up and requires five common ingredients, all poured in equal amounts, so there's no guesswork.
- Rum and Dew. Looking for a tall soda drink that's lighter than the rum and Coke? Mix up a rum and dew and enjoy the sweet, refreshing flavor of sparkling citrus.
