GRAMMY'S CHOCOLATE DROP COOKIES
A hefty dose of cocoa powder makes these old-fashioned drop cookies perfect for fans of dark chocolate. The recipe is so simple, it's a natural for preparing with children, who especially love forming the dough into balls and rolling them in sanding sugar.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Shape dough into 1 1/4-inch balls. Roll each ball in sanding sugar. Place on baking sheets lined with parchment paper, about 1 1/2 inches apart. The cookies can be stored between layers of parchment in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.

Steps:
- In a large pot place chicken pieces and add the chicken stock, onion, celery and 2 teaspoons of the salt. Put heat on medium low and simmer, partially covered, 15 to 20 minutes or until chicken is tender.
- To Prepare Dumplings: In a large mixing bowl beat together the egg and milk. Add 1 cup flour, remaining salt and baking powder and mix all together. Cut the butter into the flour mixture until the mixture is crumbly. Add 1 tablespoon of the parsley and mix. In 6 large spoonfuls, drop dumpling mixture onto the top of the simmering chicken. Cover the pot and let all simmer for 10 minutes more.
- To Make Gravy: Remove chicken and dumplings to a large serving bowl. Cover and set aside, keeping warm. Strain the stock left in the pot, pressing out any 'veggie liquid'. Return stock to pot. Combine water with remaining flour, then stir into the strained stock. Bring all to a boil, stirring constantly, to thicken. Return chicken and dumplings to pot, combing all gently. Serve with remaining parsley.

Quick & simple "cookie" recipe that requires no baking. Mom used to make these often, and I would always steal cookies before they had fully cooled and set (you know what I'm talking about!)

CREME DROP FUDGE
Do you remember Creme Drops? I was talking with my 90 year old Uncle and he told me that when he was a kid he would go into town and buy a pound for 5 cents and eat them all on the way home. They are kinda hard to find but some stores carry them at Christmas time, I found them at Dollar General. Please try this recipe it is too easy and boy are they good.

Steps:
- Line a 8 x 8 inch square pan with wax paper or parchment paper. In a microwave safe glass bowl (I use a 4 cup glass measuring cup), mix all ingredients, I like to dice the creme drops into 4 pieces. Microwave on high power for 2 minutes.
- It will come out soupy just keep stirring very quickly and it will thicken up pretty fast. Make sure that you stir very well making sure that any of the white center that may have clumped a little gets dissolved.
- Spread into prepared pan and refrigerate for 15 to 20 minutes. Cut into small pieces and store in covered container in the refrigerator.
- TIPS: If not fully melted microwave a little longer. If you want it more chocolaty add 2 handfuls of chocolate chips. If fudge is too soft reduce butter to 1 Tablespoon.
CHOCOLATE CREAM DROPS
From Betty Crocker's 1958 "Dinner for Two" cookbook, chocolate cookies that seem a bit different than other chocolate cookie recipes I've tried. Update: The texture of these is much more like a cake than a cookie or a brownie. To make them more cooking like, I'd recommend using butter instead of shortening and full fat sour cream. Also I've updated to add an icing recipe which really makes these stand out.

Steps:
- Mix thoroughly shortening, sugars and egg. Stir in melted chocolate. Next stir in sour cream (or milk) and vanilla. Sift flour, soda, and salt together and stir into batter. Mix nuts into dough. Chill dough if soft.
- Heat oven to 375°F
- Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough about 2 inches apart on greased baking sheet. Bake about 10 min until soft, when touched lightly with finger, almost no impression remains.
- For icing, melt chocolate and butter together (about 1 minute on High in microwave, stir after 30 seconds) then mix in powdered sugar until spreadable. If you need to refrigerate this and it gets hard, soften in microwave on high for 10-15 seconds. Spread icing on cookies when cool.

20 OLD-FASHIONED CHICKEN RECIPES TO MAKE TONIGHT
From eatthis.com
- Chicken Fricassee. While this dish sounds fancy, the word fricassee is French for "to cut up and fry." These days, says Natasha's Kitchen, it refers to chicken cut up, seared, and braised in a white wine cream sauce with assorted vegetables.
- Chicken à la King. Chicken à la King sounds like a dish that was created in some French kitchen for royalty, but it was actually first made in New York City.
- Chicken Divan. Chicken Divan is another dish that's preparation and name point to a French origin, but it was actually developed in NYC. The Divan Parisien Restaurant at the Chatham Hotel is said to be the birthplace of this chicken and broccoli casserole in a cream sauce.
- Chicken Cordon Bleu. Finally a French dish! Actually no, while cordon bleu translates to "blue ribbon" in French, this dish was developed in Switzerland.
- Coq au Vin. French? Yes, actually, Coq a Vin is a decidedly French dish. This simple dish was traditionally used to soften an older chicken by allowing it to tenderize in a long, slow braise with a bottle of wine and some veggies.
- Chicken Kiev. Chicken Kiev is a Russian dish with French influence that was perfected in Ukraine. It is similar to Chicken Cordon Bleu, but instead of a filling of swiss cheese and ham, the chicken filets are wrapped around butter.
- Chicken Marengo. Chicken Marengo is a French dish of chicken in thick tomato sauce with mushrooms and wine. It is named after a battle that Napoleon won.
- Chicken Dijon. Legend has it that, Chicken Dijon was created when a jar of paprika accidentally fell into a chicken dish that was being made for famous 1930s food critic Gaston Gerard.
- Chicken Marbella. Chicken Marbella is one of the most famous dishes that came out of The Silver Palate cookbook which was published in 1982. This seemingly odd combination of braised chicken, prunes, olives, and capers but fans say that it really works!
- Cuban Mojo Chicken. Marinated in citrus juice, garlic, and spices and then baked, Cuban Mojo chicken is infused with bright flavors and delicious served with rice and beans and fried plantains.
