1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
2 cups packed brown sugar
4 eggs, beaten
2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
1 lb orange slice candies, finely chopped
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup powdered sugar

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Generously grease 15x10x1-inch pan with shortening or cooking spray.
  • In large bowl, stir together melted butter and brown sugar. Add eggs; mix well. Add flour, chopped candies and pecans; stir until well blended. Pour batter into pan.
  • Bake 25 minutes. Cool 15 minutes. Cut into 9 rows by 4 rows. Cool completely in pan on cooling rack. Remove bars from pan; cut each in half diagonally. Sprinkle bars with powdered sugar.

2 sticks (1 cup) salted butter, cut into small cubes, plus more for buttering the pan
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
4 large eggs
Zest and juice of 4 oranges (making about 1 cup of juice)
Powdered sugar, for sifting

Steps:

  • For the crust: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9-by-13-inch pan with butter.
  • Stir together the flour, granulated sugar and salt in a bowl. Add the butter to the bowl and use a pastry cutter to cut it all together until the mixture resembles fine crumbs. Press into the prepared pan and bake until golden around the edges, about 20 minutes.
  • For the filling: Stir together the granulated sugar and flour in a bowl. Crack in the eggs and whisk to combine. Add the orange zest and juice and mix until combined. Pour over the crust and bake until the filling is set, about 20 minutes.
  • Allow to cool in the fridge for a minimum of 2 hours, then sift powdered sugar over the top before cutting into 16 pieces.

1 cup white sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda

1 cup flaked coconut
1 cup chopped orange slices candy

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar and white sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well with each addition, then stir in the vanilla. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; gradually stir into the creamed mixture. Finally, stir in the oats, coconut and candy orange slices. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheet.
  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

6 tablespoons hot water
1/2 cup butter, softened
2-1/4 cups packed brown sugar
4 large eggs

2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine candy and water. Cover and refrigerate overnight; drain well and set aside. , In a large bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Beat in vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture. A good friend of mine gave me the recipe for these yummy, rich date bars. Chopped candied orange slices really make them special. I dip my kitchen shears in hot water to make cutting the orange slices a little easier.

1 package (7 ounces) orange candy slices
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons plus 1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour, divided
1/2 cup water
1/2 pound chopped dates
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • Cut orange slices horizontally in half, then into 1/4-in. pieces; set aside. In a saucepan, combine the sugar and 2 tablespoons flour. Stir in water until smooth. Add dates. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Remove from the heat; cool., In a large bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine the baking soda, salt and remaining flour; add to creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in walnuts., Spread half of the batter into a greased 13x9-in. baking pan. Spread date mixture over batter; sprinkle with reserved orange pieces. 1 lb candy orange slices, cut into bite sized pieces
1 cup shredded coconut
1 cup walnuts, chopped
1/2 cup maraschino cherry, cut into bite sized pieces
2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 eggs, beaten
1 tablespoon water
2 cups brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
powdered sugar, for dusting

Steps:

  • In a large mixing bowl add the candy orange slices, coconut, walnuts and cherries.
  • Over this mixture sift the flour, baking powder and salt.
  • Mix well.
  • In a separate bowl beat the eggs with the water, vanilla and brown sugar.
  • Add the eggs and brown sugar mixture to the flour mixture and mix until just blended. This mixture will be very stiff.
  • Pour into a greased 9x13 baking pan.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes, or until firm to the touch in the middle.
  • Cool and cut into bars.
  • Dust with powdered sugar.

8 ounces chopped pitted dates
½ cup white sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup water
¾ cup shortening
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 tablespoons hot water
1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
¼ teaspoon salt
2 (10.5 ounce) packages orange slice candies, cut in half lengthwise

Steps:

  • In a saucepan combine the dates, 1/2 cup of sugar, 2 tablespoons of flour, and water. Bring to a boil, and cook until thickened, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat, and set aside to cool.
  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In a medium bowl, cream together the shortening and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Dissolve the baking soda in hot water, then stir into the creamed mixture. Combine 1 3/4 cups of flour and salt; stir into the batter just until blended.
  • Spread half of the batter in the bottom of the prepared pan. Cover with a layer of orange slice candy, then spread the date mixture over the orange candy. Cover with the remaining batter.
  • Bake for 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden brown. Cool, and cut into bars.
