- In heavy saucepan, over medium heat, melt chocolate with sweetened condensed milk and salt. Cook and stir until it thickens, about 10 minutes.
- Remove from heat. Stir in water; cool. Stir in vanilla. Store at room temperature.

CONDENSED MILK FROSTING
I didn't have any confectioners' sugar, but I needed to make frosting. Who knew you could use sweetened condensed milk? I must confess, I varied this recipe a little and added 1/2 cup or so of strawberries and 16 ounces of cream cheese (2 blocks). I also didn't have shortening and made this with all butter. I will post the recipe the way I found it at cooks.com. Serving size is estimated.

- REFRIGERATE a can of sweetened condensed milk overnight. Open and pour sweetened condensed milk into a blender and blend for about one minute or less... or until sweetened condensed milk is so thick that the blender blades can barely move.
- Turn the cup of the blender upside down and sweetened condensed milk frosting won't come down. That's how you know it is thick enough!
- Then, spoon sweetened condensed milk frosting into a piping bag and frost cakes, or use it as a filling for tarts and pies. Preferably, refrigerate cake/pie/tart -- especially at summertime.
- Of course, you can also just straight out eat it by the spoonful (MY FAVORITE WAY because, as you know, you have to taste everything that you make first, right?). ;)

- Melt the chocolate together with the condensed milk. You can do this over a double boiler or in the microwave in 20-second intervals. Make sure to mix every time you take it out, or continuously in a double boiler, to avoid the chocolate or sugar in the condensed milk burning.
- Make sure all your equipment -bowl, beaters, etc- is chilled at least 30 minutes in the freezer. You need to also chill your sweetened condensed milk, but do it in the fridge, preferably overnight.
