1 ½ cups strawberry preserves
1 ¼ cups tomato puree
½ cup pomegranate-infused red wine vinegar (such as Pompeian®)
¼ cup light brown sugar
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon ground cumin
2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
2 teaspoons ground black pepper
kosher salt to taste

Steps:

  • Combine strawberry preserves, tomato puree, vinegar, sugar, chili powder, red pepper flakes, cumin, cayenne, and black pepper in a medium pot. Whisk to remove any lumps.
  • Bring strawberry mixture to a slow simmer over medium-low heat. Cook until sauce evenly coats the back of a metal spoon and is glossy, about 30 minutes, whisking frequently; never allow the bottom of the pot to scorch. Season with kosher salt.
  • Remove sauce from heat and let cool before transferring to a tightly sealed quart-sized container.

4 slices bacon, chopped
1/2 cup finely diced onions
2 cloves garlic, minced
One 6-ounce can tomato paste
1 cup beef stock
1/2 cup loosely packed brown sugar
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 to 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • In a medium pot, cook the bacon over medium-low heat until crispy, 8 to 10 minutes. Remove to a plate lined with a paper towel to drain, then eat the bacon as a snack.
  • Add the onions to the pot with the bacon grease and cook over medium-low heat until the onions start to caramelize, 6 to 8 minutes. Add the garlic and cook another 2 minutes. Add the tomato paste and cook, stirring occasionally, another 3 minutes. Whisk in the stock, sugar, vinegar, cumin, cayenne, salt and pepper and bring to a simmer. Cook until thickened, 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Let cool to room temperature before using. This sauce is great on brisket or beef ribs.

1 medium onion, chopped
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 garlic clove, minced
1 to 3 teaspoons chili powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon coarsely ground pepper
1 cup ketchup
1/3 cup molasses
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons spicy brown mustard
1/2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, saute onion in oil until tender. Add garlic; cook 1 minute. Stir in the chili powder, cayenne and pepper; cook 1 minute longer. , Stir in the ketchup, molasses, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard and pepper sauce. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 30-40 minutes or until sauce reaches desired consistency. Cool for 15 minutes. , Strain sauce through a fine mesh strainer over a large bowl, discarding vegetables and seasonings. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 1 month. strawberries, strawberries. What a wonderful thing to do with them. This is absolutely delicious! I found it several places online, so it isn't my own recipe. We used it with grilled chicken, but I see a future of experimenting going on at my house. What a delicious BBQ sauce!! I did add a lot more hot sauce then called for, and added a dab of chipolte hot sauce with it also. I found this on Razzledazzle, but the other place is probably the original creator. Evidently its a creation that Clark Kenny of Bubba's BBQ entered in a contest so I give him full credit with my highest appreciation.(servings are a guess, but it made around a pint, give or take.

1/2 cup dry sherry
1/2 cup hoisin sauce
1/2 cup ketchup
1 1/2 teaspoons Vietnamese chili-garlic sauce
2 teaspoons soy sauce
2 teaspoons dark sesame oil

Steps:

  • Heat the oil in a small saucepan over high heat. Add the garlic and ginger and cook over high heat until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Whisk in the sherry, hoisin sauce, ketchup, chile-garlic sauce, soy sauce, and sesame oil and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and let cool.
