Provided by Steve Gordon

Categories     Main Dish

Time 55m

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 pound of Ground Round Beef
1/2 teaspoon of Black Pepper
1 teaspoon of Salt
1/2 teaspoon of Garlic Powder
1 teaspoon of Worcestershire Sauce
1 whole Egg
1/4 cup of dry Bread Crumbs
2 Tablespoons of Butter
1 large Onion, sliced
2 Tablespoons of Flour
2 cups of Water
2 teaspoons of Beef Bouillon Granules

Steps:

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the Beef, Black Pepper, Salt, Garlic Powder, Worcestershire Sauce, Bread Crumbs and one whole Egg. Stir mixture together well.
  • Shape into 4 equal sized patties.
  • Heat a skillet over medium heat for about a minute, and then add Butter.
  • Place meat patties in skillet and brown on both sides for about 4-5 minutes each. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  • Add the sliced Onion into the skillet, right on top of the browned bits.
  • Reduce the heat and cook the onions on medium-low heat until the onions turn translucent and brown. Don't rush this step. Cook the onions low and slow for about 20-25 minutes.
  • Sprinkle 2 Tablespoons of flour over the onions. Stir. Let cook and brown for about 2 minutes.
  • Add 2 cups of warm Water. Stir well. Raise the heat back up to about medium.
  • Add 2 teaspoons of Beef Bouillon Granules. Stir Well.
  • Place the meat patties back in the pan. Cover. Reduce heat just a little and let simmer for about 15 more minutes. Remove from heat and serve warm.
  • Enjoy!

SALISBURY STEAK

Treat your family to Ree Drummond's Salisbury Steak recipe from The Pioneer Woman on Food Network; smother the beef patties in gravy for a rib-sticking meal.

Provided by Ree Drummond : Food Network

Categories     main-dish

Time 35m

Yield 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 16

1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
1/2 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
1 tablespoon ketchup
2 teaspoons dry mustard
4 dashes Worcestershire sauce
1 cube beef bouillon, crumbled (or powdered beef base)
Salt and pepper
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 whole onion, halved and thinly sliced (or diced if you prefer)
2 cups beef broth, more if needed for thinning
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 teaspoon seasoning sauce, such as Kitchen Bouquet, optional
4 dashes Worcestershire
1 teaspoon cornstarch, optional
Salt and pepper

Steps:

  • For the meat mixture: Combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, ketchup, dry mustard, Worcestershire sauce, bouillon and some salt and pepper. Knead until all combined. Form into 4 to 6 oval patties, and then make lines across the patties to give them a "steak" appearance.
  • Fry the patties in a skillet with the butter and oil over medium-high heat on both sides until no longer pink in the middle. Remove from the skillet and pour off any excess grease.
  • For the gravy: Reduce the heat to medium and add in the sliced onions. Stir and cook until golden brown and somewhat soft, for several minutes. Add the beef stock, ketchup, seasoning sauce, if using, and the Worcestershire. Then combine the cornstarch with a little beef broth and add to the sauce if using. Stir and cook to reduce.
  • Add a sprinkle of salt and pepper and more broth if needed for thinning. Then return the patties to the gravy. Spoon the gravy over the top and let them simmer and heat back up for a couple of minutes.

Categories     Dinner

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 20

1/2 onion ((white, brown or yellow))
1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs ((or 1/3 cup ordinary breadcrumbs))
1 lb/500g ground beef (mince)
1 garlic clove (, minced)
1 egg
2 tbsp ketchup
1 beef bouillon cube (, crumbled)
1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
3 tsp dijon mustard (OR 2 tsp dry mustard powder)
1 tbsp olive oil
2 garlic cloves (, minced)
1/2 onion (, finely chopped)
5 oz/150g mushrooms (, sliced)
2 tbsp unsalted butter
3 tbsp (35g) flour ((all purpose / plain))
2 cups (500 ml) beef broth / stock
1 cup (250 ml) water
2 tsp dijon mustard
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Place breadcrumbs in a bowl. Use a box grater and grate the onion over the breadcrumbs. Mix with fingers, leave to soak for a few minutes.
  • Add remaining Salisbury Steak ingredients into the large bowl. Use your hands to mix until just combined. Mix well for a couple of minutes until the mixture becomes a bit "pasty" which will ensure your patties hold together well.
  • Divide into 5 and pat firmly into oval patties around 3/4" / 1 2/3 cm thick.
  • Heat oil in a skillet over high heat. Add the steaks and cook the first side for 1 minute or until browned, then flip and brown the other side (they will still be raw inside). Remove onto plate.
  • If skillet is looking dry, add a touch more oil. Add chopped onion and garlic and cook for 2 minute until onions are a bit translucent.
  • Add the mushrooms into the skillet and cook for 2 - 3 minutes until golden.
  • Turn heat down to medium. Add butter. Once melted, add flour and cook for 30 seconds, stirring constantly.
  • Gradually add in beef broth, stirring as you go. Once mostly lump free, whisk in remaining Gravy ingredients.
  • Add steaks along with the juices on the plate. Cook for 5 - 7 minutes, or until gravy is thickened, stirring occasionally around the steaks. If the gravy thickens too quickly, add more water.
  • Remove steaks onto a plate. Taste gravy and adjust salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve salisbury steaks topped with the mushroom gravy - over mashed potato is ideal! Sprinkle with a bit of parsley if desired.

BOBBY FLAY SALISBURY STEAK RECIPE

Bobby Flay Salisbury Steak Recipe image

Bobby Flay Salisbury Steak is a comfort food that's so easy to make. Juicy, well-seasoned beef patties are cooked to perfection in creamy, savory mushroom gravy. It couldn't be easier to prepare a Salisbury steak recipe for a hearty weeknight dinner the whole family will enjoy.

Provided by Izzy

Categories     Dinner     Main Course

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 15

1 lb ground beef
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs ((Bobby Flay's original recipe uses 2 tablespoons, but I find more breadcrumbs result juicer steaks))
1 teaspoon garlic (crushed to a paste)
1 egg
salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 onion ((white or yellow))
5 oz cremini mushrooms (about a dozen)
1 cup beef broth
1 teaspoon Worcestershire
2 tablespoons heavy cream
1 tablespoon tomato paste
salt and pepper (to taste)
chopped parsley for garnish

Steps:

  • In a large mixing bowl, add ground beef, grated parmesan, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix with fingers until the mixture becomes a bit "pasty". This will ensure your patties hold together nicely.
  • Divide into 4 portions and pat firmly into oval patties (about 3/4-inch thick).
  • Heat oil in a large cast-iron skillet over high heat until it begins to simmer. Add the steak and cook for about 3 minutes per side (6-8 minutes total). Remove onto a plate.
  • In the same skillet, add sliced onions and mushrooms. Reduce the heat to medium. Cook for about 4 minutes or until onions are a bit translucent.
  • Add tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth. Reduce heat and simmer for about 3 minutes.
  • Pour in heavy cream, cook for a few more minutes until the sauce is slightly thickened. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Add the patties back to the skillet. Spoon the juices over the patties.
  • Remove steaks onto a serving plate. Garnish with chopped parsley. Serve and enjoy!

SALISBURY STEAK · I AM A FOOD BLOG
salisbury-steak-i-am-a-food-blog image
2021-01-16 Salisbury steak is an American take on Hamburg steak. Essentially, it’s a seasoned ground beef patty served with gravy or a brown sauce. Salisbury steaks used to be popular way back in the 1900s. Mr. Salisbury promoted a meat-centric diet (he was keto before keto was a thing!) for health reasons and one of his most popular dishes was the salisbury steak.

  • Place the onion and garlic in a food processor with 1 teaspoon water and purée, until the onion and garlic is very well blended. If you don't have a food processor, you can just mince everything together as finely as you can.
  • Gently mix the blended onion and garlic with the ground beef, panko, egg, ketchup, 1 teaspoon Worcestershire, and 1 teaspoon dijon until completely incorporated. Divide the mix into 4 and shape into oval patties.
  • Sear the patties: Heat a bit of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and sear until the patty crusts and browns, about 3-4 minutes per side. Flip and cook the other side until it browns. Remove from the pan and set on a plate.
  • Make the gravy: In the same skillet, add the butter and melt over medium heat. Add the mushrooms and cook, stirring, until the mushrooms are golden, 2-3 minutes.
