I'm publishing this recipe because I'm sure that there are other families who have members, who don't know how or have forgotten how to make ice when the ice tray is empty.

Yield 2 trays

Number Of Ingredients 2

2 cups water (approximately)
2 tablespoons water (additional if needed)

Steps:

  • Empty the ice cubes that are left in the trays (if there are any left) into the bin.
  • Take the trays over to the sink and fill them with cold water. (Hot water will freeze faster and more clear).
  • Place the water filled ice trays back in the freezer.
  • Replace the ice bin if you had to remove it.
  • Shut the door to the freezer.
  • Be sure to leave for around 4-6 hours at least to make sure it is frozen.
  • If you want to experiment, you can freeze things like fruit infused waters or juices.

2 cups diced watermelon
1/4 cup Simple Syrup, recipe follows
Juice of 1/2 lime
1 cup sugar
Combine the sugar and 1 cup water in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Cook, stirring, until the sugar dissolves. Remove from the heat and let cool completely. Keep covered in the refrigerator up to 1 month.

Steps:

  • In a blender, puree the watermelon with the Simple Syrup and lime juice. Pour into a silicone ice cube tray and freeze about 8 hours.

36 fresh mint leaves
2 cups boiling water, or as needed

Steps:

  • Place 2 to 3 mint leaves into each cell of a heatproof ice cube tray. Fill the cells with the boiling water, then let stand for 10 minutes; remove the leaves if desired. Freeze the ice cube tray until solid.

They are perfect for a Mimosa Bar, your favourite cocktail or even a fancy backyard BBQ. Follow these how-to steps to make your own and to nail that perfectly clear ice.

Number Of Ingredients 2

5 cups distilled water
30 edible flowers

Steps:

  • Pour water into your 1 1⁄2 by 1 1⁄2 inch ice cube trays three-quarters of the way full, making 12 ice cubes. Place filled trays into a small cooler without the lid. Freeze for 7 hours or until the ice cubes are half frozen.
  • Take half-frozen ice cubes out of the freezer and let sit for 10 minutes. Using a small knife, remove the top frozen part of the ice cube from the trays and set aside. If these 'ice windows' have any excess ice attached, break or melt it off. Place flowers in the ice cube tray so that they are floating on the remaining water. Drop the frozen 'ice windows' over the flowers. Place trays back in the cooler and freeze completely, around 5 hours in the freezer.
  • Once completely frozen, remove floral ice cubes from the tray. Store ice cubes in a plastic container in your freezer. If using right away, set ice cubes out for 10 minutes in advance to temper them and prevent cracking.
