HOW TO MAKE AN ICE RING
This is a GREAT way to make an ice ring for you punch, to keep it cold and tasty! By using punch instead of water your punch won't get diluted as it melts. If you want to make ice cubes use ice cube trays or styrofoam egg cartons. The preparation time is time to make each layer, and does not include the time to freeze each layer.

- Freeze each layer before adding the next layer.

Steps:
- * Ice rings are popular for punch bowls as decorations and for chilling the punch. Since you want to avoid watering down the punch flavor, use ginger ale or clear fruit juices instead of water to make ice ring. Pour the liquid into a ring mold to a depth of 3/4 inch. Freeze solid. Arrange fruits, unsprayed leaves and rose buds or mint sprigs over the frozen liquid. Carefully pour in another 1/4 inch of liquid and freeze again to hold decorations in place. When solid, fill the ring mold with liquid and freeze until ready to use. Unmold by dipping mold into a bowl of warm water. Place frozen ring in well chilled punch.

Steps:
- Here's how to make a pretty ice ring for the punch bowl: Arrange fruit pieces in the bottom of a ring-shaped cake pan or decorative gelatin mold. Choose a combination of pineapple chunks, peach slices, mandarin orange segments, maraschino cherries and fresh or frozen berries. Add enough water (distilled water makes for a more clear ice ring) or fruit juice to partially cover the fruit and hold it in place. Freeze. Add more of the same liquid to fill the mold freeze until firm. To loosen the ice ring, dip the mold briefly in hot water. Remove the ice ring and float it, fruit side up, in the punch bowl.

Steps:
- Here's an easy way to make an ice ring for chilling a bowl of punch, using a ring mold or bundt cake pan. Make sure the mold you choose is smaller than your punch bowl. Arrange 1/4-inch slices of lemons, limes and oranges or other sliced fruit or berries in ring mold. Slowly add just enough water or fruit juice to partially cover fruit (too much water will make the fruit float) freeze. When frozen, add enough water or juice to fill mold three-fourths full freeze overnight to make sure ice ring is solid. When you're ready to serve the punch, run hot water over bottom of the mold to loosen the ice ring. Remove the ice ring from the mold, and float it, fruit side up, in the punch. Or use the same method to make floating ice disks from muffin cups, which take less time to freeze. From "Betty Crocker's Complete Cookbook, Everything You Need to Know to Cook Today, 9th Edition." GOLDEN FRUIT PUNCH WITH ICE RING
This is a refreshing punch that isn't as sweet as most. My family loves the tart "wake-me-up" flavor. As an added bonus, this punch won't stain carpeting the way a red punch would! -Cindy Steffen, Cedarburg, Wisconsin
