Nothing better than coming home from a hard day to the aroma of good food cooking. THIS IS ONE OF THOSE RECIPES. We found this recipe in a magazine from our grocery store - Sobeys and want to share it with you. Please feel free to review, we love your comments and suggestions.

1 kg boneless pork shoulder, string removed and excess fat trimmed
1 sweet onion
1 granny smith apple
1 bay leaf
2 1/2 cups beef broth, 25% less sodium
1/2 cup applewood smokey bourbon grilling sauce
3 tablespoons tomato paste
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 garlic cloves
1/2 teaspoon pepper
8 whole grain buns

Steps:

  • Slice onion, peel and slice apple. Place the onion, apple, bay leaf and pork in your slow cooker.
  • Then whisk together the broth, half the grilling sauce, tomatoe paste, flour, chilli powder, Worcestershire sauce, garlic (minced or diced fine) and pepper. Pour into the slow cooker and cook on low for 8 hours or until done.
  • Remove any excess fat that has risen to the surface and remove the pork to a cutting board. Cover to keep warm. Take the sauce remaining in the slow cooker and transfer to a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat and simmer until sauce is thickened, then add the remaining applewood grilling sauce. Remove the bay leaf.
  • Shred pork with two forks and combine with sauce. Serve on buns with coleslaw and salad on side.
  • Enjoy.

This simple crock pot pulled pork recipe is so easy to throw together but tastes like something you would order from a BBQ restaurant. The bbq pulled pork seriously falls apart when it's done cooking.

3 Tablespoons paprika
1 Tablespoon salt
1 Tablespoon pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon dry mustard
⅓ cup liquid smoke
4 pounds pork shoulder butt roast ((or bone in))
18 ounces BBQ Sauce (1 bottle)
12 Hamburger Buns

Steps:

  • Spray the inside of slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray (or use a slow cooker liner).
  • Combine paprika, salt, pepper, garlic powder, mustard and liquid smoke in a small bowl.
  • Rub all over the roast, covering all sides. (Optional: poke your roast with a large fork a couple of times to let the flavors really soak in).
  • Place lid on slow cooker and bake on low for 8-10 hours (or high 5-6 hours).
  • Shred meat when finished and add bottle of BBQ sauce.
  • Serve on buns.

1 boneless pork loin roast (4 pounds)
1 can (14-1/2 ounces) beef broth
1/3 cup plus 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce, divided
1/3 cup plus 1/4 cup Louisiana-style hot sauce, divided
1 cup ketchup
1 cup molasses
1/2 cup prepared mustard
10 kaiser rolls, split

Steps:

  • Cut roast in half; place in a 5-qt. slow cooker. In a small bowl, combine broth, 1/3 cup Worcestershire sauce and 1/3 cup hot sauce; pour over roast. Cook, covered, on low 8-10 hours or until tender., Remove roast; discard cooking juices. Shred pork with 2 forks. Return pork to slow cooker., In a small bowl, combine ketchup, molasses, mustard and remaining Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce. Pour over pork. Cook, covered, on high 30 minutes or until heated through. Serve on rolls.

1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 pounds pork loin
1 cup packed brown sugar
½ cup bourbon
⅓ cup apple cider vinegar
8 slices cooked bacon, crumbled

Steps:

  • Combine garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Massage over all sides of pork loin for 1 minute. Place pork in a slow cooker.
  • Mix brown sugar, bourbon, and apple cider vinegar together in a bowl and pour over pork loin. Close slow cooker.
  • Cook on Low until pork is tender, 8 to 10 hours. Remove pork from slow cooker and shred with 2 forks. Mix with bacon.
