2 cups original all-purpose baking mix
1 Braeburn apple, peeled, shredded (2 cups)
Paprika, if desired

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400°F. Line cookie sheets with cooking parchment paper.
  • In large bowl, mix sausage, cheese, baking mix and apple with hands until well blended. Shape mixture into 1 1/2-inch balls; place 1 inch apart on cookie sheets.
  • Bake 12 to 14 minutes or until golden brown and no longer pink. Sprinkle lightly with paprika. Serve warm.

Delicious pork sandwiches - perfect for a hearty dinner that's ready in just 25 minutes.

8 oz bulk pork sausage
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 eggs
Salt and pepper, if desired
1/4 cup apple butter
4 slices (1/2 inch thick) Italian bread
1/2 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese (2 oz)
2 tablespoons butter, softened

Steps:

  • Heat 12-inch nonstick skillet over medium heat. Divide sausage in half and shape into flat patties slightly bigger than the diameter of each bread slice. Place patties in hot skillet and cook about 8 minutes, turning once, until pork is no longer pink in center. Drain on paper towel-lined plate. Drain fat from skillet and wipe out with a wadded paper towel.
  • In same skillet, heat oil over medium heat until hot. Break each egg into skillet and sprinkle with salt and pepper if desired. Cook until whites of eggs are set. Flip eggs so yolks face down (flip eggs away from you to avoid being splashed with hot oil). Use tip of spatula to pierce each yolk. Cook eggs 1 minute or until yolks are set. Remove eggs from skillet and place directly on top of sausage patties on paper towels.
  • Spread 2 tablespoons apple butter on one side of 2 bread slices. Top each slice with sausage and egg. Sprinkle each with 1/4 cup cheese. Cover with remaining bread slices. Spread half of the butter over the top slices of bread.
  • In same skillet, place sandwiches butter sides down. Spread remaining butter over top slices of bread. Cook uncovered over medium heat about 5 minutes or until bottoms are golden brown. With spatula, carefully turn sandwiches over. Cook 2 to 3 minutes longer or until bottoms are golden brown and cheese is melted. Serve hot.

Steps:

  • Put 2 slices of bread on a cutting board or work surface. Top each with two slices of cheese, the apple slices, a third slice of cheese and another piece of bread. Press down lightly.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add the sandwiches and cook until the bread toasts and the cheese is slightly melted, 3 to 5 minutes. Flip with a spatula and add the remaining tablespoon of butter to the pan. Cook until the other side is toasted and the cheese is melted, about 3 minutes more, adjusting the heat as needed to keep the bread from burning before the cheese melts.?

2 tablespoons liquid honey
8 slices multi-grain bread (we used 100% whole wheat)
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded (about 4 ounces)
8 slices ham or 8 slices turkey
1 large apple, cored and thinly sliced

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, mustard and honey; spread on one side of each slice of bread. Layer cheese on 4 bread slices; top each with 2 slices of ham, apple slices and remaining bread.
  • Cut sandwiches in half. Use any apple slices left to garnish.
  • (If to be used in a lunch box, add apple slices to mayonnaise mixture and coat so that they won't turn brown. If needed use a little butter or margarine on bread slices.).
