1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
3 cups flour, sifted
1 cup chopped dates or nuts
1 teas. vanilla
1 cup sugar
1 cup peanut butter
2 teas. baking powder

Steps:

  • Cream butter, add vanilla. Add sugars gradually, creaming well. Beat in eggs mixing thoroughly, add peanut butter. Sift together flour and baking powder, then stir into the creamed mixture. Add dates or nuts. Roll into small balls and place on a greased cookie sheet, flatten with the tines of a fork that has been dipped in water. Bake at 375* for 10 - 15 minutes.

1 block (5 ounces) Swiss cheese
1 avocado, peeled and pitted
1 large tomato
10 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled
1/3 to 1/2 cup ranch salad dressing
10 slices whole wheat bread, toasted

Steps:

  • Chop turkey, cheese, avocado and tomato into 1/4-in. cubes; place in a large bowl. Add bacon and dressing. Spoon 1/2 cup between two slices of toast.

3 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup flaked coconut
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup shortening
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup white sugar
½ teaspoon baking powder
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 cups rolled oats
2 eggs
2 cups crisp rice cereal
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Cream shortening, add sugar gradually. Add eggs and vanilla; beat until light and fluffy.
  • Sift flour, baking soda, salt, and baking powder together and mix with the first mixture. Add oatmeal, rice cereal, and coconut. Mix well.
  • Drop by tablespoons on slightly greased cookie sheet and bake for 12 minutes.
